Using a conventional computer mouse is causing me some wrist pain, so I'm in the market for a vertical ergonomic mouse. Do any of you use one? How do you like it? I'm looking at the evoluent, which is nice but Pricey and apparently has some problems (people complain that one of the buttons will just stop working after a while, and they also complain that the customer service when you get a faulty product is sub-par). It's just a lot of money to take a risk on, so I'm hesitant. I'm also looking at the shark or anker which appear similar to each other, and are much cheaper than the evoluent. I've read that those require you to actually grip the mouse while using it, though, unlike the evoluent which lets you rest your hand on it while you use it. But, again, much cheaper. If anyone has a different brand that they really like, please tell me about them and what you like about them. I do a lot of gaming, so I'd need one that doesn't hinder me there, if that's possible. And I require at least four buttons (+scroll wheel), but that doesn't seem to be too high of a demand these days.
I prefer trackballs. My favorite (every computer I own has one now, even my tablet) is the previous generation of this (mine don't have the extra buttons to the left - time to upgrade!) : http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/wireless-trackball-m570
I use it for art - BUT the larger ball does tend to get sticky if you're not careful. I have heard the smaller balls are easier to keep from getting sticky but I like something I can find easily without looking. Note that I have very little control over my hands so usually work in a magnified view so large movements have tiny results.
I use an Evoluent, but I've had it for...at least 5 years now i think and i haven't had any problems with it. I'm also rough with and drop it a lot bc im a klutz and so far no issues. But, it has only 3 buttons + scroll wheel. (it's the "Vertical Mouse 2") (on second evaluation it does have 4 buttons, one is by the thumb.) I remember it took me some time to adjust to but once I did it cut down on my wrist problems dramatically.
