The thread title says everything! Well, maybe not everything. I guess a short introduction might be helpful... I joined a little while ago but was too timid to say "hi" or post. One of my best friends, @The Mutant, told me about this place and kept encouraging me to create an account. Eventually I gave in and created an account. After forgetting several times and procrastinating a few more, I'm finally making my first post ^_^/) You can call me "Opus" as that's my most common nickname these days. I'm originally from the southwest USA but moved up to the pacific northwest a couple years ago. I got tired of the dust and cactus and unbearable heat. Honestly I just really wanted to live somewhere temperate and green! It was a long and difficult move, but absolutely worth it. I don't think I'll ever leave Washington <3 I'm a big fan of music in general and used to collect soundtracks and even write music of my own! Sadly I haven't had a chance to do any of that since the move. Someday I'd like to unpack my collection though. And maybe even start writing again~ It's difficult to name favorite genres or bands because I enjoy so many. Several artists/groups that come to mind though: Revo/Sound Horizon, Yuki Kajiura, Nobuo Uematsu, Motoi Sakuraba, Yoko Kanno, Shiro Sagisu, John Barry, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Alan Menken, David Arnold, Harvey Danger, Mae, The White Stripes, The Who, ELO, and the Trans Siberian Orchestra. I definitely have a soft spot for symphonic rock, concept albums, and genre fusions in general. Also musicals! I'm absolutely a sucker for musicals. Lately my life is mostly trying to keep up with work and being an adult. Or at least pretending to be an adult. I work from home doing customer service / call center support. It's not something I enjoy or that I'm particularly good at. It's super convenient and pays (most) of the bills though. So in that regard I'm really fortunate to have a good job. Someday I'd love to find something that doesn't drain me so much. When I'm not working I usually watch movies and anime, play video games, or waste time online. Competitive games stress me out so I tend to focus more on single player games: RPGs, adventure, metroidvania, platformers, strategy, and so on. Like most gamers I have too many games and not enough time and energy :'D I also love animation of any kind and enjoy learning about it when I kind. I'm not an artist, but art and animation have always fascinated me. My favorite movie of all time is probably The Secret of NIMH. Some others would be Castle in the Sky, Lion King, and Back to the Future. I've also got a fondness for photography and the 80s! Although I'm technically more of a 90s child, that 80s aesthetic speaks to my soul. I'm hoping when I have more free time to not only get back into music, but start learning about photography too. I have an entry level DSLR and I'd love to go on some nature hikes and bring it with me. My sister and I have four cats and they're all little gremlins but we love them anyway. Or maybe we love them because they're little gremlins. It's really hard to tell sometimes xD I'll definitely share pictures of them all at some point. Probably later today in fact. We also had two dogs when we were young and someday we'd love to have a dog again. We've been waiting for the right time since our apartment isn't exactly dog friendly. If anyone else is familiar with Flight Rising, you can find me there as opus13! Hence my little tundra icon :3 That's about it for me though! I feel like I've said too much and not enough. I'm pretty forgetful and easily overwhelmed. So if I'm slow to respond... that's probably what happened :'D Nice to meet everyone and hopefully I'll post a lot more in the future~
Welcome! :D I'm a fellow animation fan, since you mentioned that...aside from the movies you mentioned, what are some of your favorite animated works? And the 80s aesthetic is so damn good. Great music back then, too, even though I was, uh, born in '93...:P
