hello there! i'm pretty new here, i signed up a while ago but then forgot about the whole confirmation email thing, so i ended up only making my first post yesterday. i found kintsugi through seebs's blog, and from what i've seen so far, this seems like a pretty cool place! you guys can call me moscca, i'm a second-year engineering major, and i use she/her pronouns. i love writing, drawing, cosplay, video games, scifi/fantasy, 3D printing, and lots of other nerdy stuff! i'm also just starting to get into research in my field, and i'm mainly involved with the star wars fandom right now. anyway, i'm pretty easy to talk to, even if i'm busy a lot, and i'd love to get to know you guys a bit more!
thank you! cephalopods are seriously the best; squids are my favorite, but cuttlefish like the one you posted are just so adorable!
ooh ooh 3D printing do you use CAD or something else for making them? (I haven't made any yet but my roommate got a 3D printer a little while ago and I keep meaning to try it out.)
I'm still teaching myself modeling, but I got my hands on a free copy of Autodesk Fusion 360 through my school, so that's mainly what I've been using. Mostly I just print other people's models from sites like Thingiverse. Blender can be hard to get a handle on at first, but it's a free modeling software that a lot of professionals use. My school has a studio with about 40 3D printers, which has been like heaven for me. Plus, an outside engineering society sponsors the filament, so I can print for free to my heart's content :D
