What Is Summer Games Done Quick? Summer Games Done Quick and it's sister show Awesome Games Done Quick in January are annual week long speedrunning marathons to raise money for charity (the Prevent Cancer Foundation for AGDQ and Doctors Without Borders for SDGQ) Speedrunning? Is basically exactltly what it sounds like: attempting to complete a game as fast as possible. This takes many forms, with the most common being any%, which usually takes the form of a player using a combination of glitches and their own skill to get to the end as soon as they can. Other notable categories include 100% runs (when a player races to completes all a game has to offer), glitchless any%s (where player go as fast as possible while still technically playing the way the game dev intended), and may more depending on the game being played. How does this work exactly? Each speedrunner particpating submitted a speedrun months ago and now their proforming said run on air live for our amusement. Each run is followed by a short buffer period to set up the next one. These prizes will be rotating in and out so make sure to check to donate during the time when something you like pops up. At the end of Super Metroid, Samus Aran has the option to rescue a bunch of cute little critters from an exploding planet. This costs time, something people trying to go as fast as possible are disinclined to do. As such one donation insentive is whether or not to save them. The debate to help them or not is a GDQ mainstay.
