Partially a brain thing, but also physical, I get antidepressant discontinuation syndrome really bad, even if I only miss one day. It wasn't so bad today, but I get head zaps, fever, heart palpitations, muscle weakness, dizziness, nausea, plus my fibromyalgia tends to act up. I feel like the meds I'm on now work really well for me (I've had some BAD experiences with others before) but my routine has been really upset lately so I've been forgetting them a lot. I do the pill box thing and I have an alarm, but I'm not always where I can take them right when it goes off, or I don't always hear the alarm, and the pill box isn't where I can always see it to remember because there have been kids around so I've had to store it up high in a different cabinet lately.
Someone on tumblr suggested a cell phone app called Medisafe for this, although I know it wouldn't help a huge amount if your phone was in another room... If you're not already taking an extended release version of your antidepressant, that can help. I don't have the best advice here because I had to switch antidepressants largely for this very reason.
Is there anywhere private (read: away from kids) where you can keep your meds somewhere visible? I've been keeping my meds on my nightstand with a glass of water, right by my bed, and taking them as soon as I wake up in the morning, and it's been working pretty well for me. I also don't have kids around the house though, so I'm not sure how well this would work in your situation. :/
