So i'm in this homestuck group and it has a lot of well known people in it, fun activities and fun people to talk too. The problem is when I wanted to invite my friend in it, apparently one of the admins don't like them because someone they know had a fight with my friend, and kicked them out. Then they went and told me why they had to kick my friend out because my friend made them uncomfortable, despite even saying they weren't really apart of the argument between their friend and mine. which was apparently over fucking roleplay drama from what my friend said to me, and what i can gather from the other person. And I dont know, but what my friend even told me, they were in the right because apparently, many people were very annoyed with the admin and their friend because they kept doing stupid bullshit messing with other peoples timelines, ruining their character's stories because their character was intertwined with their events, etc etc or something, i dunno. I'm just, massively conflicted on this. i want to stay because of people i follow and who i wanna talk too are in the chat, but i'm also so tempted to leave because i'm fucking pissed off at this person excluding my friend, but fucking sucking up to me acting like we're buddies. they apologized for kicking my friend, giving me their side of the story, which sounded like they're trying to fucking make me side with them and leave my friend, and kept apologizing. I didn't accept their apology because goddamn it's fucking stupid of them making a public homestuck group (by now it got too many people and people have to be invited to join in) and saying the group is their 'safe space', which is also fucking stupid because you don't make a public group where there can be a possibility for someone you might not like can join in. if you want to make a safe space, you make it private for you and your friends. i dunno i know i'm being goddamn petty, but i'm also super fucking upset because fuck me for wanting my friend to involve with something apart of the homestuck community. Hell, i'm wanting to make my own homestuck group so my friend can be involved, but i know i'll be called out for something and saying i'm copying them. Does anyone know what I should do?
I would make another homestuck group, honestly, but I am sort of a petty asshole sometimes :) I think that's weird admin behavior, honestly, and if you want a space, then you should do it! they don't have the patent on it.
yea like it felt like they were trying to guilt trip me with the safe space thing, which pissed me off even more.
I say make your own group, because the way that admin is acting has trouble written all over it. If they complain that you're 'copying' them, it's reasonable to respond with "What are you, nine?" More diplomatically, it's fine to say, "I've realized that our creative visions don't mesh, so I decided it's for the best that I start my own group." possibly with a side of, "Your admin decisions make me uncomfortable and I don't appreciate you trying to drive a wedge between me and my friend."
if this is the hs artist discord you're talking about, i know for a fact that you're not the only person who has a problem with the admin. i've discussed making a new group with a few other people already so i say fuckin go for it
The reason I never dipped my toes into Discord to poke after that when it first started was bc I was literally anxious about a situation exactly like this popping up lmfao. More groups = wider range of acceptance and different flavors imo, do the thing, I'm sure lots of people would be happy to have options. Two cake principle, too. :D
wait-- what?? they've angered others too? and gosh i keep forgetting youre in the group too, i hope i dont seem like im trying to split people apart ;__; edit: (i keep forgetting to actually collect my thoughts) We do have a group already made, and it's kinda more for helping other artists improve + homestuck, it's still in it's planning stage but we hope we'll pick it up if something happens?
yeah theyre really passive aggressive, nitpicky over the most ridiculous things (e.g: screaming at someone to take it to misc chat for a single, conversation relevant video). theres at least two people whove complained and weve said that if anyone else ever came forward about being upset at the admin wed make/join a new chat and not anymore i left after i got yelled at for nsfw content for saying i was upset that cats had six nipples bc it made it hard to draw cat furry boobs (AAAAND.......the admin vagued about me leaving, too. called me overdramatic) edit: not to mention making up new rules on the spot and getting upset when people dont follow them, despite them not being listed literally anywhere

I'd say just invite everyone over to Homestuckstuck, but given it's 18+ only group probably not an optimal solution
yeh a lot of peeps are under 18, so the group we'll be making will have two 18+ little side chats and only certain people will be able to enter because we're able to restrict anyone under 18 and shi, so it helps!
I'm wondering if I should poke ink to see if we should do that too or leave it 18+. We used to have HSS chat open to everyone but we had one too many times were someone under 18 started inappropriate topics in the main chat and had to be booted after being warned. Kind of miss it being open to all tho, I think we got more traffic before the restriction happened. The main chat is usually very general topics anyway, but the base rule is most of us have little to no brain to mouth fingers filters, and anything goes, but if someone gets uncomfortable take it to private chat.
