My parents have recently given me access to their netflix account, and I have no clue where I should begin exploring the films. So I would like some recommendations :) I like: - female leads - fun - musicals I don't like: - horror :D
hmmm, i've had netflix for a while and use it pretty frequently, let me see if i can remember anything good. are tv shows and animes off the table?
They have Sword Art Online, Lagrange, Full Metal Alchemist, Bleach, Attack on Titan, and Knights of Sidonia that I can attest are good.
if tv shows are okay, the unbreakable kimmy schmitd sounds right up your alley. if you don't mind sci fi or fantasy, the few episodes of continuum i've seen looked interesting too. as far as movies that fit your criteria, maybe: legally blonde mulan amelie (haven't seen this but have heard really good things about it) home pleasantville (the female lead isn't the main role, but she does play a big part in the movie) that's all i got rn, hope this helps. also seconding @Kodachi that Attack on Titan is good. it would definitely count as horror though.
I'm looking specifically for films, because I have loads of series to watch already, and also because I have no self control and when I find a series I like I tend to binge watch, which isn't always the best decision (especially late at night), a film has an end point and I can turn it off when I need to. I've seen Continuum and it was really, really good :) Legally Blonde I've see, it's still one of my favourite films of all time :D Mulan, same Home, loved it, recommend it to all my friends :P I have not seen pleasantville, so that's something I should check out :) Thanks for the recommendations peeps :)
BUT! LET ME WARN YOU ALL! When I was rewatching FMA:B on Netflix, they didn't have the last... 6 or so episodes? I had to go to other, slightly less legal corners of the internet. It was very frustrating.
I've just watched it recently so it's on my mind, but Miss Granny seems like it would fit your specifications pretty well. -female lead (played by Na Moon-hee and Shim Eun-kyung who are both fantastic) -fun (and also sad) -not a musical, but has lots of singing. Here's one of the songs. Assassination also has a female lead (Gianna Jun, she's awesome) but it's not fun unless you like lots of shooting and fighting (which I do), and it gets pretty bloody and very sad. Gianna Jun is in The Thieves, too, although she's not the lead (I'm ... not sure who the lead is, actually, but I think it's one of the guys), and that's a fun heist movie with some sad parts. And ... it's not on Netflix anymore, oops. Hulu has it, though!
