Up to chapter 9 of Agatha H. And the Airship City. I expected it to be kinda schlocky, since its a novelization and those usually aren't great, and i mostly picked it up cause im fixating hard right now on Jagers. But actually it turned out to be really good, and Im enjoying it immensely. Some observations so far: 1. Wow I did not pick up on almost any of Agatha's thought processes or emotional perspective in the comic, especially at the beginning. Like, some, but having it spelled out was really interesting and often not at all what id thought they would be. 2. Jagers are actually even scarier and sexier in the novels than they are in the comic what is this witchcraft. Esp in comparison to the Lackya, who were apparently supposed to be scary? It makes a much better balance that way. 2b. General Khrizhan I saw you cuddling Agatha when you caught her. Don't even pretend. I was shocked he and the rest of the jagers didnt just pick her up and keep her forever. 3. I have a much better sense of how multicultural and also just straight up /weird/ Castle Wulfenbach is. the descriptions of the various constructs are epicly creepy, esp the radioheads, and i love the descriptions of the way Lackya move. 4. Gil you are a precious cinnamon roll and also a complete romantic incompetent. How did you ever get laid, it is an absolute mystery.
@Bel Capricorn The weird accent is still written out. I didnt find it as impenetrable, so they may have toned it down a bit? But i might also just be getting used to it, so idk. Btw, I'd love to hear other people's opinions about the book. Im up to date on the webcomic so it should be hard to spoil me.
i generally love how much more stuff is just fleshed out, stuff that didn't get touched on in the webcomic, and the footnotes. I'd go for details but I lent the first two volumes to a friend of mine.
Oh my shit, when krosp left agatha after the train thing, with all the bears, he totally went to go rescue Dr Vanpoodle. Look at this little shit. I was wondering what he was doing. Hes going to go off and be all heroic and loyal to the end even if he's a cat and i am going to cry, gods damn every last bit of it.
I think the kindle edition omitted the footnotes? This is v disappointing, if so. Also surprisingly short. A good transition place but im glad the next novel was immediately available. :/
Through chapter three of Clockwork Princess. This one does have footnotes, which are universally gr9. A little slow so far, but still fun. I didnt realize that Zeetha was so messed up before she met Agatha. Her attachment makes way more sense now. Apparently Agatha was actually sorta attracted to Lars, and it wasnt just a one-sides crush? Thats...both sorta cute and a little :/ . I wanted to think her thing with Gil and Tarvek was special. But i guess its not like they're actually a thing at this point. idk how i feel about it. They're entering ZumZum!!!!! *excite*
Ex-fucking-scuse you, king in yellow. Also i want to see all the heterodyne plays they sound hysterical, the snippets we get are fucking /choice/.
...ok yes, Gil needs to scream in people's faces a lot more. I think we've solved the mystery of how he got laid.
That whole tedious bullshit in sturmholten is boring as fuck, please send rescue. The only bright side is tarvek noticing she was wearing an ugly dress and why. Tarvek you are a gem, never change. ...ok the jagers ending up on their knees for agatha is pretty excellent too, if not particularly less magical than in the comic. And pretty soon dimo should lose his arm, which promises to be fun. By which i mean hopefully gory and hot and pressing my trust-buttons as hard as it did before. I didnt see the parallels between the geisterdammen and the detatched jager before either, come to think of it. They both left their home and everything they love to go search for Agatha, knowing full well they were probably going to die in the attempt and could never ever go home, so that their comrades could be safe and happy. Shit, help, suddenly feels. They should switch to worshipping Agatha instead of That Hideous Bitch, they would be much happier.
