What are Moral Orel and Bojack Horseman? ONLY THE TWO GREATEST TELEVISION SHOWS EVER.

Moral Orel is a claymation show that ran for three seasons on Adult Swim. It started out as a silly parody of Davey and Goliath, but the season one finale (The Best Christmas Ever) was incredibly dark and foreshadowed the future tone of the show. Things got a bit darker but not extremely so through season two. The season two two-parter finale really ramped it up. The execs up at Adult Swim said they wanted more dark stuff like that, so Dino obliged with season three, which was more than they bargained for since it was cancelled halfway through for being too dark. Many people call this show the darkest show to ever air. I'm definitely more a fan of Moral Orel style darkness than "random atrocities happen to one dimensional characters" darkness. Through all this, it never stopped being funny.

Here's a couple of my favorite season three episodes. Notice how what happens in the first one is echoed in the second.
(A bit of backstory: Clay is Orel's alcoholic dad who beats him with a belt to drive in the Lesson of the Episode. This is kind of a "how he got that way" episode.)

If you're a fan like me and you look around the web, you can find some of the episodes that were planned for season three but never aired. To be honest, they're not as good as the stuff that stayed.

Bojack Horseman is a traditionally animated Netflix original. Lots of people are calling it "the next Moral Orel," but between you and me, it's not as good. It's still really good, though! Miles above any non-Orel TV show, for sure. In a land where humans and anthros coexist, Bojack is a horse who starred in a 90's sitcom. These days he spends his time mostly huddled up in his mansion watching reruns, bugging his agent, and hurting the people around him. He's pretty narcissistic.

The best episode by far is "Zoeys and Zeldas." I have a hard time deciding between that and Futurama's "Jurassic Bark" for best episode of anything ever. If you want a good introduction to the show, watch that episode.

BOJACK HORSEMAN SEASON TWO COMES OUT JULY SEVENTEENTH!! I DON'T THINK I'VE EVER BEEN THIS HYPED FOR A TV SHOW!!!

Season 2 of Bojack Horseman came out a little while ago! I've been watching an episode a day every day I could get to the library, since my computer's being repaired. It's so good!!

I recc'd Moral Orel to Luka awhile back because it seems like his sense of humor/fucked upness. It's one of my favorite shows.

Can I get a "holy shit" at season 2 episode 11?

Here's a reaction video I found on the bojack horseman subreddit that's perfect:

He LEFT the DOOR OPEN. This is a whole new low for Bojack.

Also apparently there's going to be a season three and the creator said it's going to be even darker! I'm so excited.

Hey, I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to say that I'm LOVING Bojack Horseman so far! I'm only on the ninth episode, but I think I'm gonna binge a bunch of it today. Thanks for the rec, @BPD anon! <3
