I'll start!

One of my favorite ships ever is actually a het ship, John Crichton & Aeryn Sun from Farscape. I HAVE SUCH FEELS...

They're one of the best depictions of 'soulmates' I've seen tbh. They teach each other, they're both they own person outside of the relationship, they lift each other up, and best of all they grow to respect the fuck out of one another (esp John to Aeryn...she hung the stars and moon as far as he's concerned). They're beautiful and great and ughhhhh talk about relationship goals. Also they are so pretty, so so pretty.

there are plenty of other quality ships from LL but i think those are some of my most-enduring favorites

 

I'm bad at meme-y names but Cassian/K2SO is my jam right now and I want more than like 5 fics of it to exist.

Give me adorkable or otherwise quirky villain pairs and I'm often in love with their love, whether it's <3 or <>. Handful of pairs in Redwall, Gannji and Enor in Order of the Stick, not very big into Pokemon but Jessie/James is cool...

 

Legolas/Gimli. Legolas/Gimli forever. They start out kinda tense but then they start to really respect each other and they banter and they protect each other and they're just so cute. They're one of like…three ships I have that I only want fluffy fic/art for because I just want to see them happy at all times.

 

i'm feeling really embarrassed 'cause discovering that fluffy/redeemed flowey nyechtar (papflowey) exists has caused me to develop a craving for it

and there aren't many fics on ao3 and that makes me even more embarrassed

It's just so impossibly fucked up and I like to think that it's almost entirely ruined sex for Tori.

 

DaveKat, I love it. Romantic fluffy DaveKat. They both need hugs and who better to hug than each other? It makes me so warm and fuzzy that they snuggle in canon. And I'm so happy it's canon because I love the ship and also added bonus of most of the fanon interpretation I saw before that was kissmesitude, which was not my jam.

I really liked Eruri from SNK for a while. I liked that they were both really messed up by the world and the things they had to do and see, but clearly found some comfort in each other. And they're both incredibly fit and flexible so fics were fun ;)

AGH how could I forget about Jean Valjean/Javert? Another classic case of "need to hug it out." They're both different sides of a coin and would complement each other really well. Javert goes a little too hard without thinking about the consequences to prove himself as the best. He throws himself into law because he needs a black and white morality that will allow him to shuck off his past, but his worldview is so fragile that it takes very little to collapse it.

Jean Valjean thinks way too much about the consequences and is always driven by this never-ending need to get by and atone. He's also pretty black-and-white morally, though a bit more grey. He did bad things in the past, so he is inherently bad, and thinks everyone would agree if only they knew. It's been a while since I read the brick but I think there's a part where he thinks he's deceiving Cosette by being a loving, caring father to her, and then leaves her life out of guilt?

I think they'd both benefit from talking out their crippling self-hatred and assuring each other that they understand but they're wrong, they both deserve love and are not Bad People because of the mistakes they've made and the experiences they've had. Javert is coming around to grey morality by the end of the book, and UGH if only they'd been friends, Jean Valjean could have had so much to tell him to help him. And Javert knew that Jean was not inherently evil, and likewise could have helped Jean come around to it. Hell, if it was Jean that changed Javert's mind about black and white morals (was it? uncertain but p sure), I think that'd mean a lot to Jean.

it's everything i like about the ships that make it up, combined in a way that i think makes them greater than the sum of their parts, and it's cute as fuck ok

the stuff in the credits just cemented this ship in for me--i've loved it for ages and always been a little bummed it's not super popular because it seems SO obvious heheh

 

I want my angsty Balticest and there's so very little. *grumble*
