Well, I looked and even used the search button, and I didn't see an Ace Attorney thread! I thought this was totally unforgivable and decided to make one myself. (If I did miss one, I'm sorry, please direct me to it!) There will probably be spoilers in here, but we can hide them so people can talk without being spoiled too. Like I, myself, have only played the first two Phoenix Wright games and the Miles Edgeworth Investigations (which I am playing right now) because video games cost money and for a long time I couldn't afford them. I recently got the final one in the Phoenix Wright trilogy and the first Apollo Justice game, so those are coming next! I'm really excited, but also kind of sad and nervous, because I'm horrifyingly attached to the current characters I know and love. Fun fact: I really fucking love the Ace Attorney games. I got the first two when I was fifteen and ate them up, and I played them over and over until this birthday, when I got the new ones. I'm twenty. That's five years. I wouldn't play them constantly or anything, but when a while had passed and I felt like I could be surprised by the game again? Replay. I love the games, I love the characters, and also I really just love lawyer/detective themed games and other media, so I get way hype about it. My favorite is Miles, because he is my sarcastic son and he deserves better. I would probably marry him. It wouldn't even be romantic, if he showed up and was like hey let's get married I'd be like yes okay let me tell you nice things about yourself which not enough people have done. I get super emotional about these games, and I'm basically enamored with all of the great colorful characters within them! (Maya and Ema are sweet beautiful stars. And also gay. Everyone is gay.) The puzzles are challenging and interesting, the plots are fascinating, and the characters are lovely and flawed and well written. Also there are so many puns. So. Talk Ace Attorney with me!
HELL YES I LOVE ACE ATTORNEY. Maya is basically my spirit animal. Also, I'm not gonna spoil anything, but the third game is probably the best, IMO. Although the last case of the second game is one of my favorite cases. (adrian you poor ball of issues and gay) But yeah the third game made teenage!Acey cry during study hall because she beat it and the ending fucked her up and it was SO GOOD. Also the series was my introduction to kink memes HAHA OOPS
Adrian is so full of issues and gay, and I worry for her. I'm actually on that case during my replay of the second game, which I left for a while to play the new ones. The thing that fucked me up most about that case was just... The defendant. The fucking defendant. Maya is beautiful, and thus you must be beautiful! I also have some strong feelings about Franziska. Who gave her a whip? Why is this allowed? Why is no one taking it from her?
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude. Dude. You gotta post your reactions to the third game as you play it. also @Acey high five for the PW kink meme! It was pretty much my introduction to fanfic with actual plots and stuff (as opposed to the Pokemon fandom on ff.net, which was entirely self-insert fics, songfics, and really badly written porn. Not that the kink meme didn't have those things, but.) Also @Rafi when you finish AA3 you should download the second Investigations game and its patch! There was never an official English release but the fanmade translation patch is really good, and also Investigations 2 is one of the best games in the series, second in my books only to AA3. My favourite characters are Edgeworth and someone from AA5 so I won't talk about them :P Or, I will but I'll put it under a spoiler cut: Spoiler: AA5 chat Objectively I know the AA5 overarching story has flaws (and I know I'd have handled some of it differently), but subjectively? I adored Fulbright throughout the game and the part in 5-5 where you have to present his portrait fucking floored me. I hadn't felt like that since 3-5. Now that I think about it I also really like Dahlia. AA villains are so great :3 Except the tree dude from AAI. Fuck that guy.
*busts through the door* I HEARD SOMEONE SAY THE NAME OF MY FIRST AND ONLY ENDURING FANDOM. I freaking love Maya. I cosplayed her when I was 14. I had an awful wig but I had so much fun. I also loved the artist girl from Apollo Justice whose name I cannot remember help me. I need to replay that game it was so good. I ALSO LOVE EMA. EMA IS THE BEST. KA-TONK. Also Phoenix/Edgeworth was my first OTP and it still is honestly like. What a great couple.

(I also have a mighty need for all the Layton games and Happy Home Designer and I just haven't got that cash. >_>) I am/was a significant Maya/Nick shipper, with a side of awkward Nick/Edgeworth and a big guilty helping of Edgeworth/Franziska. I'd love to do an Ace Attorney cosplay one day. Ahh, I'm so glad there are so many people that love the games! They really are near and dear to my heart. Me, at any given moment: treasuring Miles Edgeworth I also totally agree with @An Actual Bird about the villains in AA being great. They really are solid. Everyone gets a motive, which is awesome, and a lot of the time there's twists you wouldn't expect, or you end up feeling bad for the murderer. I really like finding out the backstory behind all the characters and their motivations. AAI 1 is amazing. I'm really loving it. The cases are long as hell, which is a bonus but also sometimes frustrating because you're like I GOT IT I GOT IT IM SO CLOSE and then nope never mind here's some new info, pfft. One of my favorite ever cases is the fourth one in AA1. I get super emotional every time. I also think AA2 is mostly really solid and fun, though the big top case can get annoying on replays. Fucking Moe. Also @Kaylotta , no ship shame here! I may be pretty firmly in the Franziska and Miles as siblings camp but that doesn't mean everyone has to be! I mostly ship Phoenix/Miles, Franziska/Maya, Maya/Ema, Lana/Mia, Gumshoe/Maggie Byrd. I know a lot about the Apollo Justice era characters too and am kind of pre-shipping a little, pfft.
I shipped Ema/Trucy (and wrote a bad fanfic about it when I was like... 15?) for some reason which when I think about it is a bit eh because of the age gap, but I was just like, "Trucy is so hype and bubbly... Ema used to be like Trucy but now she is grumpy and jaded... Imagine her at first being annoyed at Trucy but then gradually becoming endeared towards her, and then Trucy getting an obvious crush on her and... yes." Also re: villains. Spoiler: I have no idea if this is a spoiler but Apollo Justice 1 spoilers Kristoph. Just. Fucking Kristoph. WHAT WAS BEHIND THE BLACK LOCKS. AAAAAAH. He was. Such a good villain. Also I was lowkey crushing on him despite him being hella bad news.

Wait, there's an AA thread? :D Anyone else here playing Spirit of Justice? I'm loving it so far, Dual Destinies didn't quite do it for me Spoiler: DD spoilers kinda, also related AA1 spoilers?? in no small part because of The Cosmic Turnabout and Turnabout for Tomorrow - between Apollo's kind of weird characterisation relative to the Apollo Justice game and the fact that Edgeworth was legitimately accusing Athena of murdering her own mother in a way that echoed his own trial but with not an ounce of awareness of this.....like, maybe that was deliberate? Idk. Also we had a hell of a theory going for that storyline which the reality turned out to be a lot less of a Satisfying Plot Twist than the one we'd envisaged but this one's been incredibly fun and I'm excited to see how it ends. Also does anyone know where the best place would be to get hold of the Investigations 2 patched emulation? I am always afraid of riddling my computer with internetbugs by downloading the wrong thing, so a point in the right direction would be appreciated a lot! c:
i'm currently playing Ace Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, which is a fun AA game... but also kind of heavy if you're an Edgeworth fan, because holy guacamole does that boy have issues. after i finish this i plan on picking up the first three games on ios, because i've only played the first two and like the first case of the third game. oh! i found the anime too! on a shady streaming site, of course. but it's ongoing and they seem to update pretty promptly when the new episodes come out. so far it's gone through the first two games. i'm not in love with the art style, but i AM in love with all these law nerds and so i'm having fun watching it anyway.
the anime is on crunchyroll as well if you don't mind being a week behind and in lower quality if you haven't got premium! :D is it ever. poor kid, it was fascinating to get to actually see some snapshots into his younger days but also ouch, i felt for him. and franziska for that matter. protect them. (also the third game is excellent especially if you're an edgeworth fan or are inclined to ship wrightworth because the fuel is strong in that one but all that aside the cases are really cool)
AGREED. like. this is how Miles' father figure/mentor talks to him: OUCH. poor guy. and i mean, there's also the part where Miles has a phobia of elevators, due to childhood trauma, but he decides to psych himself up and ride in an elevator anyway. and IMMEDIATELY FINDS A BODY. for as goofy as the AAverse can be, this game has some fucked up stuff happening. (and i love it.)

As bad as I feel for Edgey, I can't get over the fact that THE PLANE HAS AN ELEVATOR. HOW RIDICULOUSLY EXCESSIVE IS THAT.
Wait what. Is that even possible? You have to have a certain amount of pressure and/or machinery to work an elevator and... pressure is a thing that gets fucked up p well when you're changing altitude. Planes are complex pieces of machinery.
