aha! a place! ...I am apparently having a hell of an executive function day today, and can't figure out where to start. Um. The ten OCs I have moodboards for are all from the hemostuck!AU of my wife and I's fantroll multiverse. We have an excellent romantic drama slash political intrigue RP going with these guys that takes up several hundred thousand words by now. My moirail writes in it occasionally, and his wife is curious enough that she's trying to read it with only an outside-the-fandom knowledge of Homestuck, which is going interestingly. I'm gonna do short bios of the characters named (who are all characters I primarily write for - there are a dozen-odd others owned by my wife or my moirail) in a separate post once I finish moving myself and supplies into the comfy bed bc it's that time of night for me.
ok i apparently don't know how to summarize. um. what would you like to know about the OCs? i get anxious about being rambling/unwanted when i'm just infodumping about my characters :/
Neumah it is! Spoiler: if i hide my rambles they're not bad right? Neumah Vraovu is an oliveblood, and the lead apprentice in the Imperial Fashion department, and tangentially yet solidly quadranted to the Royal Family (auspitice to one of the godblooded.) She likes making designs, playing with makeup, riding her skycycle, gossiping about Court, and occasionally indulging in her hopeless crush on her boss. She is generally fairly laid back and patient. She is super proud that all her experience doing makeup for her tealblooded moirail means that she has indispensable skills now that at least one blueblood is showing up to Court functions semiregularly.
So what's the major plot of your story? What conflicts/sides are there and what characters are on which sides? Also, what's different/fleshed out from canon- every homestuck au has little things that are either changed or made entirely up by the writer, what's in yours? Also quadrants! That is literally always fun to hear about, who is quadranted with who? Also your rambles are fine, no worries!
Spoiler: Plot This is a very complicated question! Um, broadly speaking, the Royal Family (which includes Catriv, Aawern, Neumah, and incongruously enough, Mahree) is trying to deal with the generational version of hovering/controlling/manipulative parents - the Second Cohort is fucking with the First Cohort's policies, politics, and criminal enterprises a lot. This leads to a lot of not knowing who to trust, as the Second Cohort prefers to bribe or manipulate catspaws into doing their dirty work. Intrigue and backstabbing happen a lot. On a more micro scale, I'm really enjoying the various romantic entanglements - Catriv starting to date Mahree <3 is throwing a major wrench in basically everyone's plans. As of where we're paused in the RP, Mahree is recovering from a close assassination attempt, there are shenanigans with Secret Pale Pining afoot, and the gossip blogs are starting to ask questions.
Nice! That sounds very interesting. What's everyone's blood colors + three sentence summary of their personality?Who's the main character, or if there are nultiple groups, who's in charge of each?
Spoiler: Colors and summaries! Catriv - rust. Tiny but fierce. Determined to actually live up to her duty. Compassionate. Aawern - bronze. Hedonistic party girl. deeply protective of her clade, and generally takes on the role of "overall interpersonal peace manager" in the background. Neumah - olive. see above? Apkuri - olive, nearly jade. Cheerful, optimistic, reckless. Autistic, and previously very socially traumatized, which leads her to be exceptionally compassionate and patient with various oddities in behavior fro other trolls. Airauw - jade. Meticulous. Has some control issues. Tries very hard to be balanced, even, and fair. Passionate about her calling (medicine.) Tearan - jade. Stubborn, blunt. The sort to bully you with compassion (ie "drink that tea right now.") Touchy and defensive about being overlooked. Tietre - teal. Self-contained, quiet, secretive. Likes to keep track of what's going on with literally everyone. Very patient. Mahree - cobalt. Deeply religiously devoted (particularly to the Lord of Pulse and Haze.) Autistic, hyperempathetic, sometimes depressed. Very good at de-escalating tense situations. Broxxa - cobalt, nearly indigo. Practical-minded, and deeply stubborn. Very committed to the DIY ethic. Not afraid to break heads to protect what she considers important. Spoiler: Groupings These four groups overlap in membership and influence quite a bit, but there are roughly four large social groups involved in this RP: The Royal Family. Consists of the Empress-in-Waiting, the Grand Premier, and the few other surviving godbloods, plus their quadrants. Catriv is by default in charge, but Pascel does a lot of running interference between the clade and the larger Court society, and Aawern does a lot of keeping an eye on and managing morale. I've done moodboards for Catriv, Aawern, Nayasi, and Neumah: other members include Inoxah, Pascel, Girzym, and recently and incongruously Mahree. The Blue Court. As taken from more of the obscure/hidden notes and blog material for the Hemostuck setting. Headed by Praduz, who is <3< to Mahree and <> to Broxxa. The Blue Stars. This is the small organization started by Mahree and his c3< Mintuu. They're attempting to be sort of the setting's equivalent of the Black Panthers. Tietre is part of this group. and finally, there's sort of a group connected to trolls connected to a particular mediculler clinic. Airauw runs the clinic, but she's c3< with Apkuri (who's work-partners with Girzym) and <> with Mintuu (who has a <3-crush on Apkuri).
I love all of it?? I need to hear more about Aawern, she sounds great. Also, can I read the actual thing?
I'm so glad! Hahahaha Aawern. Basically, her theme song is this: Spoiler: spoiler bc videos make pages load slow She's pretty determined to not have a formal matesprit or kismesis until she absolutely has to - she enjoys being the court scandal and sleeping around too much. She is very much fond of supporting clade morale by insisting on throwing small parties up in the royal tower. She's pretty heavily traumatized by some of the early deaths of some of the clade, and deals with it by turning up cheer to eleven and keeping a weather eye on her surviving clade. She has her hands full being <> with Nayasi, because Nayasi is a paranoid workaholic - they end up balancing each other out rather well.
I love her????? Although tbh, anyone described as "overly protective of another person/a small number of people" is usually instantly my favorite character.
There's a lot of protectiveness in general - sort of a theme we like RPing - it just manifests differently in different trolls. Aawern's one of the ones where it takes up a lot more of her mental energy, though, for sure! and protectiveness manifesting in parties and pranks and cheering people up is super fun to play.
Oh my gods, there are so many. I wasn't kidding when I said that this thing was huge. Um, dramatic highlights include: - the "coronation party" of the Blue Queen getting interrupted by literal explosions - Mahree dramatically catching Catriv when she slips climbing a wall (she literally fell for him) - Praduz is a dramatic idiot regularly - Catriv occasionally gets semi-prophetic dreams, and those are always fun to write!
