Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts, Teach us something please, Whether we be old and bald, Or young with scabby knees, Our heads could do with filling, With some interesting stuff, For now they're bare and full of air, Dead flies and bits of fluff, So teach us things worth knowing, Bring back what we've forgot, Just do your best, we'll do the rest, And learn until our brains all rot. Edit: I changed the title because this turned into Sage Academy stuff almost exclusively almost immediately. Also because I'm a rebel? Yes.
Ooh, Hogwarts - it occurs to me that I actually have some HP-verse OCs that are more recent than three-four years ago, as opposed to my only fantrolls.
i'm fine with whichever. though i'd like to play how i've overly headcanoned scorpio malfoy to be like... emoticon
I do really like the next gen stories, especially since they're around this time period. I know I personally prefer playing with original characters in other people's worlds, but a lot of the joy for me lies in "And then they also got taught math and the scientific method and how to run a business", and I have this obsession with talking about unjust slytherin stereotypes and hufflepuff erasure. I have exactly one OC in hogwarts, and that's more than I have anywhere else.
Unjust slytherin stereotypes and hufflepuff erasure are :C. Just double-checked, and my most fully fleshed-out HP OC is a Slytherin kid, but I think I have a Hufflepuff around here somewhere.
My roommate and I have long conversations about this, since she's a hufflepuff and I'm a slytherin. (According to Pottermore, at any rate)
I am a Ravenclaw, according to the pottermore quiz. (My mother got slytherin and freaked out. it was actually hilarious)
Your mom does hogwarts stuff? Neat. My parents are not interested in my realm of semi-escapist scifi and fantasy. I only know a few ravenclaws in real life, so I'm more familiar with slytherins and hufflepuffs, basically. I get really into wand lore and stuff, too, though.
Hm, I wonder what the house stats are on the forum... I mean, I'll probably never find out, but so far we've got, what, 2.5 slytherins and 1.5 ravenclaws (@littlemissCodeless I'm counting you as a half because I don't know an easy way to write "possibility of 1, depending" in math)
I haven't actually done the pottermore test, partly because I'd rather read Red Hen's potterverse worldbuilding/meta than JKR's any day, and partly because I'm a big believer in the role a student's personal preference plays in their sorting and I've never yet encountered an online test that really reflects that. That said, eleven-year-old tiny!Bramble would have been a shoe-in for Ravenclaw and I don't believe that's changed significantly in the interim.
I'm a Slytherin, according to Pottermore. And Albus Severus Potter is my fave Next Gen kid, even if the Tumblr consensus is that Harry gave him a horrible name.
Red Hen? I had not heard of them. I will have to, apparently. I like the headcanon that he got sorted slytherin, and hangs out with scorpius. (I have this headcanon that they try to play pranks on people but are very weird children, and as a result, these pranks are unnoticeable and more subtle than anyone gives them credit for.) Personal favorite next gen kid is probably Teddy, though.
Here's the main index of her "Concerning the Potterverse" essays. :) I don't have a hard-and-fast headcanon for Alby's sorting, but I'm rather fond of the idea of Slytherin Rose Weasley and Ravenclaw Scorpius Malfoy bonding over their dads' passive aggressive disapproval of their houses.
i sort of ship rose/hugo/scorpius platonically despite not knowing the accepted headcanons for their personalities because of a situation i'm in.
