Wow ominous title alert SO UHM BASICALLY I'm discovering that my Weird Thing For Spreadsheets might Actually be something that's Semi Marketable on a "consultation" style basis?

    But, like,
I'm not sure what I should charge? I'm keeping track of my hours as best as I can (for all that I do it randomly between bits), but like...how the heck much do I charge????

    please help,

I'd say $15.00 is a decent start, you've got a specialized skill after all.

,,,I wanted to rate that both informative and useful, but holy fuck,
It's...weird to think of my weird hobby as a specialized skill?? I just. Really like spreadsheets. (thank you so much @NevermorePoe)

so, what do you do with spreadsheets? Just, out of curiosity. There are classes that people can pay upwards of 400 dollars for classes in Microsoft office skills like spreadsheets, and things like that.

[Edit:] added a couple things, posted too soon

Uhmmm lessee. It depends on what the person wants? I do a lot of conditional formatting, color-related stuff that's linked to the contents of a cell. Then I mess around with linking pages? So data from one page and another and another and so on can be totaled up on the master page? uhmmm I'm trying to do some cross conditional formatting + equations so that I can set shit up to calculate amounts based on the contents of THEORETICALLY unrelated cells but I haven't streamlined any process just yet, that's something I gotta work on...

Organizing them too, that's something I can do—like setting them up to be a little easier to read, for customers? I can also set sections of the page to "read only" so that a customer would be able to fiddle with one place but not another

    OH UNLESS YOU WANTED EXAMPLES.
    • Designed basic templates for a company (that's mostly style work though, not much in the way of editing/formatting)
      • This was stuff like, sign in/sign out sheets, sales reports, etc
    • Order forms for the same company
      • This had a lot more linked shit, like you'd fill out the counts for a certain thing on one page or another, and the Total Page would update as you went
      • It also included some locked cells b/c the company owner was worried she'd accidentally delete some of my formatting
    • Automatically counting/updating spreadsheets that you could duplicate to use over a different year span (for the homestuck shipping world cup)
      • Loooots of linkage on equations, and it got to the point where my count of our work was more accurate than the main sheet :D
    • A Pokémon Go Evolution Counter Sheet
      • Equations that calculated for how much candy you had + how much you would get from evolving + trading + etc, to how many Total Of X Pokémon you needed to properly use it all up
      • Had to give up because I couldn't figure out how to COMPLETELY work out recursion issues once it hit a Certain Point
uhmmm a couple others I think? I did a few for other companies that color coded based on what a problem was/what was missing/how much of the project was complete/etc?

Yeah, that is stuff you should
    A) charge for
    B) tell me more about where I can find tutorials because I need to use some of that stuff :P

@Emma I would love to!! unfortunately, I...don't actually know where any are? I mainly picked this stuff up from messing around with Excel and Google Sheets, and a few pieces are based off of aggregated scraps of knowledge that other people showed me @_@
thhhhat tends to be why I'm Not Great at streamlining—I learned by throwing bricks until enough stacked up to make a wall, no one ever got around to telling me about mortar

hopefully when I have more time this summer I'll be able to sort through this shit :D
