hey! ever feel really confused about why other people with the same personality disorder as you are completely unrelatable? this is just due to humans being different, but also, apparently 'subtypes' exist of every single personality disorder that could potentially put everyone into even smaller categories than before http://www.millon.net/taxonomy/summary.htm the ones for avoidant (which is what i have) hit a little too close to him, i definitely do one specific one more than the others, but i also feel a do a bit from all of them - but, again, i feel like the point of the subtypes is to focus on which you do the 'most', and there are probably people who do mainly everything from only one subtype, while others are more broad in symptoms thoughts on this? think its garbage or actually interesting/validating?
i'll note that it's not actually part of the dsm, which is what hospitals, doctors, insurance, etc. use to code an illness. they're of limited usefulness from that perspective. i think it helps for self-reflection and self-identification. i don't see any of myself in the bpd subtypes. i see myself a little in other personality disorder subtypes when i simply don't have that personality disorder.
yeah, of course - i am not even sure how 'verified' these are, i think they might be fairly new-ish, but i kind of enjoy finding anything about pds considering how little actual research there exists of them outside 'ooh! scary! bad!' i think i remember hearing once that personality disorders all have a bit of overlap with certain symptoms and representations, which is also why pds tend to be highly comorbid... it's interesting to think about!
