Hello, I'm Al! I haven't frequented a forum for a long while (btw, thanks for approving my account!) so apologies in advance if this post gets rambly and/or jumps about in topic without warning. I'm 24, located near the middle coast of dry, desiccated, sunny California. I am dfab, trans, and consider male 'close enough' that I usually just go with it. He, they, or whatever singular-gender-neutral you happen to prefer are all fine pronoun-wise. I'm an illustrator and have been jumping from comic idea to comic idea for about a decade with nothing to show for it yet. I don't have a degree in anything in particular, brain stuff made college and I not really get along so well, but the best I can describe my career is probably 'coming up with odd ideas and executing them'. Mostly I make shit, then sell it online or at cons. I'm very into indie comics/webcomics, reading, drawing, and cooking. Other things I hold an interest in, in no particular order, are: shiny rocks, fluorescent colors, hokey paranormal shit, birds, Terry Pratchett, star trek, barbershop singing, sewing, alcohol infusions, board games, tabletop RPGs, various sorts of video games, disneyland, not making lists of my interests, and gardening. I'm romantically partnered with a pretty rad person who goes by Zith online, who I may poke to make an account here at some point. So, yeah. Hi! Looking forward to chatting with y'all about things and stuff. *waves*
Many, many of them! Primarily Shadowrun at this point, but I've played a good bit of D&D, Pathfinder, Fate, L5R, and Mutant City Blues as well. I've never gotten a chance to play WoD or Exalted but a lot of people in my playgroup have experience with them! Are you playing a particular WoD game, or just a general mishmash?
Mishmash. It's a small-town horror game that kept escalating until now we're trying to banish gods. :)
It is a pretty awesome game! It's been running for about 3 years and the story is approaching the final climax. The GMs are great. I haven't played Shadowrun since 3rd edition. What's your game like?
The one I'm currently running is focusing on a bunch of street-level wannabes working their way up to being genuine shadowrunners. Right now they're mostly running about doing odd jobs for eco-terrorists and settling petty gang squabbles. Unfortunately that whole lame 'having an adult life with commitments' thing has kept us from meeting for the last few months. ;(
Awwww yissssss. What sort of stuff do you play, jacktrash? Oh! I realised I forgot to list another RPG I have a good amount of experience with: Mouse Guard! Probably my favourite game for drawing new folks into the hobby.
I've played most of the big ones, but lately i'm in a game of Dungeons The Dragoning, and i love it SO MUCH OMG. it is so over the top and cinematic. you get rewarded for 'stunting', like the crazier the shit you pull the more extra dice you get, it's fantastic. :D i am playing a kung fu space cowboy with a robot arm. he is the most normal member of the party.
Ooooh, my group has wanted to try that one for a while. We were so excited to find out that it has a coherent rules set.
