Okay! Numbers are an issue. Some petstucks humanize some trolls who make less interesting pets. Could do that.
Eeh, I always hate switching the species of some in a "set" and not others. Homestuck just seems to have the characters slot so neatly into groups I feel weird messing it up. I think one could cover the trolls if one sticks to the two sets of player trolls and adds in both generations of humans from both universes, the Harley cousins from the game, and at least some of Dad Egbert's online friends...
Wait, if the carapacians were humanised or counted as an "owner" race there'd be no problem! Spades Slick is totally Karkat's Perfect Person.
Yeh yeh, kinda hate that too. Who would be the Mayor's troll, you think? Someone soft but determined. Orderly. Fuck, maybe Equius. He likes authority and would benefit from a dude like the Mayor. Unless Equius gets Dirk or AR.
I was thinking Equius gets one of the Dads. Super-strong and super patient and obviously an authority figure. That or Dirk, and Horuss goes to whichever one of those two Equius doesn't. Black Queen spoils Meenah rotten, Roxy lives in a quiet isolated place filled with cats where nobody will mind Meulin's yelling, Jane provides Gamzee with endless baked goods... Karkat is a cynical variant on Lucky who lives in the troll's home and thinks he has no person until Slick comes along.
Kanaya as the Cookie type, settled in her home with Rose, but comes back to the shelter to help out. Big troll, maybe? Man, size differences get me. Vriska as Squirt guy? No human, claims to not need or want one, does thievery and dirty tricks for acquisitions. Sollux would def work tech. Or maybe Equius, but I really can't see him coming back after he gets his dude. Sollux has the right amount of compassion to keep doing this sorta work, even if he found a match.
Combine it with some kind of super-weird symbiotic link which is the reason trolls domesticated humans and let humans think it was the other way round :P
