Okay, so - I checked, but there doesn't seem to be a thread for this? And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person on Kintsugi who's using this app. Zombies Run is a podcast-esque fitness app - you download an episode and listen to it while you go for a walk (or, as the name suggests, a run). The episode has plot and story, and allows you to collect items that can be used to build and fortify a version of the place your character (Runner 5) is based out of. The episodes are broken up into multiple seasons (I haven't yet started Season 2), and there are several "go this far" race episodes that contain plot you need to understand what's going on; Season 2 has a header warning people that it's best to do the races before starting Season 2. There are also training programs, which allow you to work your way through a season and get to the point where doing the races won't kill you. (The shortest race is 5k. The longest is 20k.) The app is available for free, but has a premium version that costs money (and isn't exactly cheap) and is paid for on a subscription basis, rather than a one-and-done payment; I have the premium version, and the main differences appear to be that 1) you get to choose how intense the zombie chases are, if you have chases enabled, and 2) you can download all the episodes right away - the free version makes you wait about a week between downloads, which is Obnoxious. (I absolutely would not blame anyone for paying for one month, if they can afford it, and downloading every season during that time, and then not renewing their subscription.) So: who do you trust most in Abel Township? Who do you trust least? How far in are you, and what sort of build do you favor for your base? Does anyone else like to just...leave Radio Mode going, to listen to them boys? (Please spoiler anything past Season 1!)
I've been using it and I love it. I'm not very far in - I do only a couple of runs every week. I really really like Sam and the radio boys. Sam is just so nice and soothing to listen to, and I always deck the mission a little shorter if possible so I can get some extra Radio Mode. Base building is fun, I mostly just get whatever seems neat at the time because I haven't yet got a faintest clue as to what works better. TBH I don't even run per se - don't have enough endurance for that yet, I speedwalk and then jog a little when zombies come on. But it's already been doing miracles, and I was so proud the first time I got my round under 30 minutes (the round is to the next train station and back, 2.8km) - it was the episode with the kid and I fucking bolted. One day I'll get to 5k too. One day. :P
I've only just started and haven't gotten over 12 minutes, but God even just that is Fantastic .the voices are so good and I appreciate it auto pausing my music lmao
Ahaha, god - I have not actually done any of the races yet. I'm doing the training program to try and get myself to the point where I'll actually have the endurance for the 5k race. Right now, I am Not speedy - I've been doing most of it at a walk, which puts me at around 14 minutes. I haven't been getting any chases when I turn chase mode on, and I don't know why that is. I have the premium version (because with the training program, it wants you to go six days out of the week, which doesn't work as well if you have to wait to download episodes), and I've got the setting for how often zombies should show up cranked to maximum. I don't know if I need to crank up how fast I need to go when they turn up, too, or if it just doesn't toss zombies at you as often if you've already done the episode before, or if I'm actually going too fast for zombies to happen (which doesn't feel like it should be a thing). Sam is very much a good guy who needs a hug. And the radio boys are fantastic. The auto-pausing is great, yes! If you're using the internal music player, it'll actually try and time the audio clips so that they fit in between the music; if you're using an external one, it'll just pause or turn the volume down when it's time for an audio clip.
Figured this out. It turns out that if you're going too slow, the app just won't trigger any chases even if you have chase mode on. So I guess I'll know I'm finally getting up to speed once chases start happening! Also, I tried interval training yesterday, and oh god I am not ready for the pre-made options. I tried, but I ended up with a stitch in my side halfway through. I'm putting together a new one that's significantly more walking and a bit of jogging, with two really short instances of sprinting; that feels more within reach.
Yep, she definitely has. Uh. The most polite way to put it is 'a forceful personality'. I absolutely don't blame you for not trusting her, though; I didn't either. On the other hand, the reasons she's giving that she's suspicious of us are completely legitimate. Spoiler: possible spoips, view at own risk If the reason you don't trust her is a gut feeling that she would 100% murder you and lie to Sam about how and why you died if she thought it was necessary during that bit where she turns the transmitter off? Well, good news and bad news: your gut feeling is right, she would absolutely murder Runner 5 if she thought it was necessary and lie her ass off to Sam about what happened. She's got reasons for it, though. Keep in mind, as Runner 5, we end up in Abel Township with only the clothes on our backs and the stuff we gathered during that first run. We know we were actually on the chopper, but they've got to just take our word for it.
