I find screamers enjoyable. Lots of people are negatively affected by them. Tumblr's solution seems to be "never use screamers for anything, ever, or you are horrible." But wouldn't it be better to just ask your friends whether screamers are okay with them and only send them to those who are? Is a blanket ban really the best decision?
I wouldn't say people are horrible but untagged and circulated posts with hidden screamers are No Fun for people who do not do surprise. Like me. I flip my shit everywhere. Its mot pretty. Like sending them to your friends if you guys agree it is okay? Go for it man, if ya get a kick outta it its cool.
Yeah ok. I think tumblr is specifically a bad platform for screamers, since they're all loaded up on your dash and people are pretty haphazard about tagging and even then you have to have thought to savior them and now that tumblr is doing the keyword/suggested posts thing who knows who's gonna see your posts... Its like those flashy gifs. But thats a 'tumblr sucks' thing not a 'screamers are bad and youre bad if you like them' thing.
@Lissiel Yeah exactly! You're not bad for liking them, just tumblr is a REALLY shitty platform for them. Which is why I do advocate for them NOT to be on tumblr. If only because WOW they suck and they make sure everyone gets bullshit they can't handle thrown at their faces.
See, I haven't just seen "don't post screamers." I've seen "Halloween/April Fool's Day is coming up, this is a reminder that screamers are a horrible thing to send people and you shouldn't ever do it." Personally I would love for a friend to send me a screamer on Halloween or April Fool's Day.
The first time I saw a screamer (in like 1995, lol), I shoved my monitor so hard it literally bounced off the wall and fell in my lap. And I mean a bigass Hewlett-Packard monitor. I STILL DON'T LIKE THEM................... But a lot of other folks do. Better to ask!
I have seen "don't post screamers" and also it is implied that doing so over tumblr is "horrible". Tumblr likes to yell about horrible but yeah, send them to friends its not a horrible thong. Just not cool to post them on tumblr? Like idc where you send them elsewhere and most people on tumblr seem to forget there are things outside of their tumblr echo chambers.
In middle school, my tech ed teacher played some really stupid one. The actual screamer didn't freak me out, but the whole class screaming together? That sure did.
