eyyyyyy fellow Kintsugijin! this is... probably the right forum for this? anyway I realized on Wednesday that I have in fact been increasingly depressed as hell and that my sudden disappearance from this forum and y'all's (...really not sure whether that possessive should be plural??? halp) charming company prooooobably had something to do with that instead of me Being Responsible And Focusing On Academics, No Really, and since my philosophy is that anything which depression thinks is a good and reasonable idea is really definitely a goddamn terrible idea, I've decided to wade back in here, anhedonia be damned. >:] I feel like I have a lot to catch up on (Jesus fuck you guys have probably gone through a whole new Tumblr.txt and possibly a CDCF the Drama never stops), and I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a rundown of major events that have occurred since, mm, late-ish October, but I'm determined to get back into the swing of things eventually! I hope I (and you) will enjoy my return.
Well, so far we've managed to only set the forum on fire once, so we're doing better than our previous track record! Ray drew a picture of notzi au megatron with a boat steering wheel(??? what is that called again?) made out of daggers with swastikas on the end, with a human heart impaled in the middle.
...the previous track record being...? (also I assume said forum fire was to do with the belowmentioned Ray incident?) ...fuck, uh. that's... god, there are so many reaction images I could use... too many, dammit! I'm suffering from decision paralysis here!! Spoiler: solution: post them all and make a feeble effort to hide your sins but this one sums them all up nicely, I think: boat steering wheels are formally called helms (thus "helmsman"), btw. also, I'm sorry, but... swastiskas on the ends? attached to the points of the daggers?? but why (link pls n thank)
https://kintsugi.seebs.net/threads/...apstikas-everywhere.3442/page-597#post-423337 News hit the thread somewhere on that page, and proceeded from there. Highlights include Ray being Ray, and also Ray deleting the original Notzi post in a sulk after people asked questions
@coldstars thanks! I'm pathetically reassured by the fact that the swastikas are actually on the pommels, not attached to the points. whew. really dodged a bullet there. otherwise... Ray. Ray Ray Ray Ray Ray. my guy. no. (fun fact: I totally forgot the Notzi AU was in fact a Notzi AU and frantically trying to deny the fact that it is obviously just a straight-up Nazi AU, so I was momentarily baffled as to why Ray felt the need to flimsily justify the swastikas. but alas. also idk if anyone pointed this out further down in the thread than I read, but I was particularly struck by his saying that swastikas might seem like a Nazi thing to anyone "who hasn't researched Indian culture." first of all, "Indian culture" is not a fucking monolith, Ray, you utter egg, there are religions in India aside from Hinduism, yes really, some of which are also native to India, yes really, and knowledge of those would not necessarily include familiarity with non-Nazi swastika use. not to mention there are also aspects of "Indian culture," under whatever broad definition you want to use, aside from religious symbolism, and knowledge of, for instance, Gujarati cuisine would not guarantee swastika knowledge. for fuck's sake. secondly, I loooooove how he assumes familiarity with Hindu symbolism always comes from research, as if there weren't, for instance, people who were raised Hindu oh my god how Eurocentric can you fucking get.)
please accept this baby giraffe to welcome you back, also it is happy to see you I am also happy to see you
That's a great line of thinking and the one I'm increasingly trying to live my life by. I'm glad you're back!
