So, this has happened 3 times now. Once months ago in a panic, once a few days ago, and just now.

Without warning, the keyboard will suddenly stop responding entirely. I can use the mouse just fine, however. Mouse is a-ok. Trying to restart will result in waiting literally forever for a restart that will not come. turning it off will make it do the shutdown motions, then never actually power down, and will remain in that middle-space forever if you let it.

Only cure is to pop the battery and turn it back on once back in place. works a-ok then.

I would like to avoid this happening constantly. Yes it's an easy fix but it's a tedious and annoying one and I can't find jack shit googling bc I think I'm unsure what to google potentially to get the right answers? But.... the fuck is happening and what can I do to not have to do this constantly? Computer is a-ok just fine other than this, it's frustrating.

Huh, it sounds like something on the motherboard to me (without anything else to go on). I'd reccomend opening her up to see how the connection is doing on the keyboard but it sounds like it's a laptop and they're a pain and I wouldn't blame you for being wary of doing that.

If you're having to power cycle it to get it to actually shut off I hm... There are diagnostic tests, I think I mentioned UBCD to you before, that might be able to pick up if it's a memory or cpu or bios problem. However, it could be a driver issue and you might (worst case scenario) have to reinstall windows.

But I don't know! Normally I'd just crack that puppy open to check on hardware issues first, but I don't have it face to face with me :(

ono Considering it's so random and outta nowhere I'm wondering if it is indeed some kind of loose connection inside there as opposed to anything else, but I'm not sure where to look or even how safely. so far having the quick fix is soothing my anxiety, but it's also making me seriously go >:????? and D:< in frustration. if it keeps up too many more times I'll have Nate take it to get poked and prodded since it's not catastrophic implosion grade problems and would prolly be quickie fixy.

Yeah, that's what it sounds like to me too. I mean if you're feeling adventurous you could look up youtube vids of people taking your model of computer apart! TBH I do that because I do not have time to know how every fiddly bit fits together. However, it does sound like you should probably go get it prodded
