For some reason I've been getting appalling blisters on the soles of my feet over the past couple of weeks. I think it's to do with the heat or my switch to sandals, because I haven't been walking any more than usual. Some I can ignore but I've been getting huge ones on the ball of my foot which swell so much I have to hold my foot askew when I walk, which is only making things more uncomfortable. Lancing them doesn't help for long, and I can't really go without walking, especially since I'm grossly overweight already. Anyone got any tips? Switching back to trainers and socks might do it but I'm not keen to in this heat.

What I've commonly heard recommended for treatment is moleskin -- you cut a donut-shaped piece that surrounds the blister, then place it over the blister (it's usually adhesive, so it'll stick). This keeps the blister from coming into contact with the sandal and helps it heal. Moleskin's not too expensive to get, as far as I remember from seeing it at the drugstore. There are also foam versions, but they'll probably be kept together in the store, near the bandages. You can also cover the area with another layer of moleskin/foam to keep it extra-protected from the environment.

Maybe a different pair of sandals? As unfashionable/expensive as they are, I've never gotten blisters from Tevas while hiking or working.
