We have system-specific threads, but I didn't see a general war stories thread. So here it is! Stories from your tabletop games! Our Exalted megagame has been running for over 5 years now. In the very first session, a Fire aspect dragon-blooded named Alain came charging out of the Wyld, which he had been traveling through for several hundred years, in pursuit of the man who had betrayed his father and his kingdom to their deaths. A goddess told him that he had a destiny of forever pursuing his quarry and never catching him. She offered to trade destinies with him, exchanging his destiny for her city's destiny of meeting its greatest foe in battle. He accepted the trade. It took a year, but Alain caught up to his quarry. There was a VERY dramatic fight. It ended with a badly wounded Alain finally striking the killing blow against his hated foe. He thought it was over. Four more years passed. Alain ended up fighting in single combat against opponents far stronger than him a lot over those five years, but that wasn't terribly surprising to us because his temper is short and he's easily provoked by any insult to his pride. Frankly, he has no right to be alive and several times only lived because his less straightforward allies were able to use some trickery to bring the fights to a premature end. Alain is now KING Alain and has finally been able to ask someone knowledgeable about Fate about this tendency. King Alain has just found out that the destiny he traded for five years ago is not only still active, but applies to his kingdom as well. He is yelling in character right now. I love this game.
