Ten Word Story

Since I don't think Kintsugi has one of these yet!

Rules are as follows.

1. All posts must be ten words or less in length and continue on from the previous post.
2. Nobody can post twice in a row.
3. Keeping the narrative semi-coherent is encouraged but not mandatory.
4. Nobody can declare the story finished. It is only finished when everybody is too bored with it to post.
5. Characters, locations, and other such paraphernalia may be drawn from every sort of media or made up on the spot; anything goes.
   
6. No using the thread to insult or pick fights with other users. The ten word story is not the place for that. (I'm not saying don't fight. I'm hardly in a position to do so. I'm just saying don't do it here.)

STORY START!

When the spaceship landed, we were playing Cards Against Humanity...

 

Passing the time, since cryofreeze capsules deactivate near asteroid belts.

 

glub glub glub glub glub glub glub glub glub glub.

 

"Oh shit, Captain", I said, "where'd these fish come from?"

 

The Captain sneezed thoughtfully. "Heck," they said, "Deal 'em in?"

 

So we did, but it turned out...

 

These were no mere fish, but magnificently vicious alien overlords.

"I think," said the Captain, "that last round offended them."

 

"It was probably the peppers, sir."

 

Which were admittedly a bit wimpy, heat-wise.
