Or: the simplest, most elegant way to troll people. What is it? Basically, you disrupt automatic processes and then ruin the other person'(s') day because now they can't stop thinking about it. Warning, if you are uncomfortable with acute awareness of parts of your body this may not be the thread for you.
Oh and I got my coworkers with: "You are now aware that your lower jaw has weight and requires effort to keep closed"
s c r e a m s i am currently feeling equal parts 'oh my god, fuck you' and 'thank you'. this is the worst thread. it is also the best thread. i am going to set up a tent in this thread and live here in a state of continuous frustration at the way bodies work.
How long is it in between the times you need to swallow your saliva? What are your toes doing right now?
Reading some people's reactions to these can be pretty funny because I usually don't keep my jaw closed and this means my teeth don't touch, my tongue is very comfortable in my mouth, and I can pay attention to my breathing while still doing it automatically-ish.
I do this all the time, like, i'm constantly aware of my body unless i'm overloaded? This isn't normal?
I'm immune to a lot of these mostly because my body behaves a little weirdly when I'm not paying attention. I'll stop breathing for like 30 seconds at a time and breathe very shallowly anyway, my jaw is usually tensed so the idea of it having weight doesn't occur to me, I haven't the faintest idea what my tongue is doing but I can't feel it. Basically my body is bad at sending me signals.
