I'm just learning gimp myself! Granted, I'm using it for drawing and don't know if you're using it for photo editing but I found this tutorial really helpful if drawing is what you're after. . Getting used to the fact that you have to float any selection before you can transform it, then merge the layers again was my biggest pet peeve so far. That, and there being no way to flip the view without physically flipping the canvas.
it says 2.8? im gunna be using it mostly for basic photo editing and pattern drafting im working on selling my sewing and knitting patterns and im starting a youtube channel for funsies so i need to be able to make thumbnails etc
I don't have any tutorials, but I did use GIMP almost exclusively until this last year. I'll open it up next time I'm at my desktop and give you a run down of where all of the features are hidden. Any tools you are looking for in particular? I've never been good at understanding knitting patterns :P
I don't know anything about knitting patterns. I do know GiMP. Every major version is completely different from the previous one in the UI. Most tutorials and helps are aimed at 2.64 currently, so when searching Google make sure you specify 2.8
