oh nooo, you stopped at a terrible place... that's part of my favorite set of books!
Miles' brother is a great character, and I feel REALLY BAD FOR HIM even though he's not a good person.

The Phoenixian Not an eldrtich abomination, but getting there.

Yes, continue. My first books in the series start about where you left off and what comes after is pretty good. (Someday, when I am properly away from a computer, I will finish the series.)

my personal favorite book is Ethan of Athos, even tho it's got practically no Miles-- I just REALLY LOVE the plot and storytelling and a scifi novel with a gay main character god fucking bless.

i do wish that Bujold had more gay characters and like... bisexual characters that didn't end up in het relationships. EoA is great, especially for a book that's older than I am, but even all her bisexual characters (which! I appeciate that there's so many! but!) end up in opposite-sex relationships, and their same-sex or third-sex attraction is just... kind of... not part of their identities, most of the time... aaaaaa

i cant get too mad tho because it's STILL SO MUCH BETTER THAN MOST OF THE SCIFI I'VE READ but... aaaaa....

and i don;t think there's been a straight up gay character since EoA which is just. ):

I have A Thing for Simon Illyan, and I am not sorry.

A Civil Campaign is possibly my favorite book in the series. Least favorite is possibly Cryoburn. (I really, really liked Captain Vorpatril's Alliance.)

ACC is soooo good. So are Memory, Komarr, and Diplomatic Immunity. I think my least favorite is probably also Cryoburn-- Bujold is great but not at kids, and there is too much Kid happening there.

I think my favorite bits of writing ever are in Komarr, when
Ekaterine is thinking about how Nikki is her mutant heart and then fucking WRECKS the terrorists. EKATERINE YOU'RE MY FAVORITE FOREVER BESIDES BEL AND ETHAN

I'm up to Mirror Dance. One of my friends is giving me the books for Chistmas/birthday as they come out in Estonian, so it'll probably take me another decade to get up to speed (it's a Tradition), but I don't mind too much. I can re-read yearly, going like this.

Nothing will beat the shopping trip to the capital, as far as I'm concerned. I love Miles and Aral, am very fond of Bothari and Bel and Drou, but I adore Cordelia.

I love that part so much I must've reread it like a dozen times at least

The guys were shuffling around going about the best way to do this
Cordelia goes in and just grabs the head of the usurper and goes back out
    Drops it on the table
Completely and utterly proves that she is not here to fuck around

And that a society that discounts the ability of its women is VERY vulnerable to a sufficiently able woman.

The Vorkosigan Saga! My favorite is probably Komarr because I love Ekaterin's strength and growth in that book so much, but they're all fantastic.

I most love Simon Illyan and Alys Vorpatril, and Simon and Alys as a power couple. I love everyone else, too, but they are first and favorite.

And on the subject of Alys Vorpatril and a society that discounts its women, my favorite line about her:
Said right before the unfolding of a Miles scheme that owes a tremendous amount to her political influence.

I like Ivan a lot. How messed up he is by his origins and his mother. How hard he avoids any possibility of anyone seeing him as mature or responsible, out of a quite reasonable fear that, if he seemed at all competent, people would try to use him or endanger him. He plays the dissolute spoiled idiot Vor so well, and yet he's really not that at all.

it is... sometimes military, and sometimes intrigue, and sometimes espionage, and sometimes a caper, and the one thing it always features is Miles being way too damn clever for his own good or anyone else's.

they are wonderful and you should totally read them.
