I have a long-term long-distance friend who I had a relationship with for a while. I broke it off a couple years ago because I couldn't handle long-distance anymore, but we both still have feelings. He's making vague plans about coming over here next year, but I worry things are just going to get awkward. I couldn't tolerate moving to the US even if I had the money to do so and I can hardly ask him to move here. It's messing with my self-esteem as well because why would he come over here for an obese unemployed girl who's psychologically incapable of fucking him? I know he knows about those things and it didn't bother him before, but it feels different in real life. The obvious thing would be to move on but I don't think either of us wants anyone else.
Other obvious advice would be to talk to him but hahaha. I'm sure anyone who's ever tried to talk about something like this knows why that's hard.
Is there a mutual friend that could sleuth out what his intentions are? Sometimes a go between can be helpful.
Sadly not. Though he did offer to introduce me to one of his friends via Facebook, but it would be a bit weird to dump this on someone I'm only just meeting.
