i am housesitting for a classmate. i lost her house key because i'm dumb and lose things a lot. it might be in the house somewhere but i can't find it. can i bring the doorknob somewhere and have them cut a new key? should i just replace the doorknobs? is any of that even legal since it's not my house??? help
Could you call your classmate and ask what she'd prefer? She might have a spare key somewhere. I wouldn't replace the doorknobs without her knowing, but she might be fine with having a new key cut.

Okay. Then let's try to think of some things to do before you get to the point you have to call her. My advice would be... you've looked in her house, and you can't find it, but now you're very stressed. Can you try to distract yourself a bit and destress before looking again? That will improve your perception.

Okay. My last bit I'd say is, I don't know her, but I don't think she'll be too mad at you if you come to her. Accidents happen, and a lot of what makes people mad is people not admitting to the accidents, in my experience?
