AAAAAAAAAAA So far, it matches the tone of the myth arc perfectly by being bewildering and ridiculous, but also great. I heard there would be some monster-of-the-week stuff, and I'm really excited for it! Disclaimer: I never actually watched seasons eight or nine, so I'm a little fuzzy on the later plot. Was the smoking man still alive, last we saw him?
I WAS GONNA MAKE THIS THREAD u beat me to the punch, damn youuuuu [unconvincing rage-fist-shaking] and im even more behind that u r, ive.....literally only seen the episodes you've shown me, plus about half of season 1, lol....! but now I PLAN ON MARATHONING IT over february break probably, while im in florida, it will be lovely to sit with an ipad on a cool terrace at night watching x files watching...all the lights from planes and stuff...............
I hope there's some monster of the week! So far it's kind of sad*, honestly. I would like some more snark and shooting things. I've only seen s1-3 as background tho. *sad like :( Late edit: BUT I LOVED THE SMOKING MAN CAMEO. That was really exciting. And I also love how this important recurring antagonist has a prop that I can use to recognise him, that's very considerate, thanks writers XD
I missed the second one when it was on TV, but I'm watching it now and it seems to be plot-of-the-week, which makes me very happy. And it's less dumb than the premiere. EDIT: And Abigail Kacey Rohl is in it! EDIT: Now they're referencing the bits of canon I haven't watched :|
they've had some clever scully+mulder exchanges this week, but it's also been way too straight-comedy even for a monster of the week episode, and had a Comedy Black Trans Sex Worker outta nowhere :|
ok, it was pretty dumb and kind of #problematic, but some of the comedy bits were actually funny, and I am as always a sucker for anything where mulder and scully talk to each other.
I stopped watching partway through the second ep :I That one character said "bad things happen when the birds come" and I had to pause the ep to really appreciate that line, and after that there didn't seem much point turning it back on. Ah well. I'll always have the early series. Want to make this a general X-Files thread?
Yeah, why not! I'll rename it. I'm probably gonna keep watching the revival, even though.. it's pretty terrible... because I will shoulder through anything for Scully. <3_<3 I guess if I apply that principle, I should probably get around to watching seasons 8 and 9.. they can't be *worse* than the revival, right?
