Have a bit of words I was thinking about.

"Admiral, what's this?" A gloved finger prodded at a 3D holographic map in the centre of War Room, at a small dark spot towards the edges of the System of Joined Worlds's territory within this arm of the galaxy.
Admiral Ramirez glanced up from the display she was studying. "Sir?"
"There's an unoccupied system here," the Grand Paladin said, a touch of confusion in their voice. "It actually looks like the S.J.W. expanded its reach around it. Did my predecessor make any notes about it?"
Ramirez took a deep breath. This was a moment she'd been dreading since the new Grand Paladin had been sworn in several months ago. "Well... it's an unallied colony. Called Kintsugi. And, uh-"
"Why aren't there any notes on this system?" The Paladin had zoomed in on the dark spot, filling the display volume with an image of the long-range scans of the system. "We didn't even open diplomatic channels or send a survey ship?"
The pitch of the Admiral's voice raised an octave. "Y-your predecessor ordered all mentions of Kintsugi deleted. Not even any receipts. It was, um, a sore spot."
She remembered precisely how shrill the previous Grand Paladin had gotten about the Colony That Should Not Be Named In Polite Company. The last time the Central Intelligence Service Head Espionage Team leader had mentioned it, Grand Paladin Trygger had actually thrown a chair at him. The current Grand Paladin, however, was merely looking at Ramirez, somewhat agog.
"So, you mean to say, there was a coverup?" they said, disbelief and anger playing across their perfectly-coiffed eyebrows. "At the very top of the leadership?"
Ramirez squirmed under their glare. "Well, not as such, more like an - uh - agreement to never, ever talk about it." Her voice sounded unconvincing to her own ears, but the Grand Paladin seemed to relent. They looked back over at the zoomed-in, grainy hologram of the system of Kintsugi.
"Well, Trygger isn't in charge anymore, non-denominational gods rest faer soul. What do you know of this, this 'Kintsugi'?"
"Uh," Ramirez began, checking her ethically-sourced dataslate for the notes she'd made on the system, "it was founded by a rogue agent from one of the S.J.W.'s top-secret weapons programs, and the - um - secret weapon he was working with. Due to its secrecy, it was officially simply an unallied colony, and Grand Paladin Trygger attempted to open diplomatic channels a year or so after it was founded.
But while they are always willing to parley, even our crack team of Automated System Diplomats were unable to convince them to join the S.J.W. or to agree to extradite the large number of political dissidents and other problematic elements that flocked to the now rogue colony. It was ordered for an invasion to be mounted, but none of the Bellicose Prepared Destroyers that the Military Political Department sent could approach the system, due to what turned out to be some ancient space defences appropriated by the Kintsugi colonials. The Oppressor-Conquering Division was likewise unable to reach the system with any of their long-ranged weaponry, and Trygger declared the whole thing an embarrassment."
Ramirez finished reading and looked up at the Grand Paladin, who was standing with their back to her, looking out of the window at the planet Tutamen Aether, the jewel of the System of Joined Worlds.
It was a tense moment before they spoke. "Add Kintsugi back to the maps. And tell the Central Intelligence Service to get me a dossier on their leaders and any known people and entities of interest. I think I might introduce myself to them, as the new Grand Paladin, see if I can make up for some of Trygger's mistakes. It's what the council elected me for, after all."
"Right you are, sir," Ramirez said, relief audible in her voice.

So today I redownloaded Hexels, and I have a cold, so I decided to give it a go and try and draw the Kintsugi system, based on @Snitchanon 's drawing (and very much not in scale).

It's still a wip, while I place things around, and ignore the black line that cuts through some planets. I'm hesitating on the colours of some of these guys, so let me know if you think that, say, η should be a green world because of forests rather than the light purple it is right now.

    This is Emery.

They are a refugee from tumblropolis, and are mostly regular human, maybe with a bit of gargoyle in there somewhere. That would explain the perching tendencies and the times they were found crouching on a roof. General job would be a revolving assistant figure to a couple of people. They dress either in short circle skirts and croptops or cargo shorts/pants and tees with either a studded vest, leather jacket or flannel. Emery has a fondness for hats, which they wear when their mohawk is down. Usually either barefoot or wearing combat boots. They use a longsword when they fight, but it's usually friendly sparring, though they are on call for the defense force when things get nasty.
Emery would like to be an herb liaison, bringing herbs from farm to shop.
AAAAH another one I thought I was the only one! I do german longsword, still kinda a beginner. Been doing it for over a year now. I have the same type of sword, rawling, it's a bastard sword with extended pommel because the regular longsword were too big for me. I was actually using a messer for while before I got my current one.
Emery would like to help with the farm, maybe livestock tending and filling in for whatever robots were eaten that week. They can also provide preliminary excavation of ruins, ya know marking and dusting off to check who it would go to. Don't wanna call the paleontologists when you need the founding civilization experts.
If this is still on Emery is very in on it. Willing to point out any space dogs and to poke stuff with a stick.
Emery is very here for mad science. They will do all the science, except background research and proposal writing.

Holy balls hi. =D where's your club? I've actually moved back to the area my club is in, though I've been appalling about going because of various brain things. >>

Greater Boston area, it's a decent size for a HEMA club. I grok the not going cause of brain issues, but I find for me going helps with the brain issues.

Nice! I didn't even know they did it outside of Europe, though now i think about it of course they do. I'm in the UK. xP Our club's fairly small and casual but full of super nice people.
Yeah I've been letting my brainbugs win way too often lately basically. xP

Yeah it is pretty widespread (not popular but all over the country) in the US, we've got lots of clubs and a few tournaments. Our club is basically full of athletic history nerds, I'm the youngest at just under 18, but I joined at 16. Being the youngest and smallest means I get some lighthearted teasing about being basically a kid. And of course short jokes that I have already heard before. Fight those brain bugs, hit them with swords.

I'm in the situation where my original kintsugi oc was made based on a very specific set of emotional circumstances.

So can I be a Cody-esque dapper person, except something vaguely avian instead of a cat?
