It is a joke in a way, in that he's actually telling the truth, but he's not talking about the crossbow.

 

And the first commenter, Wiwaxia, did say "tell him to drop it, for he is being rude," and Blue considered this and thought it was reasonable.

And Loq, the second commenter, appeared and said "tell him you appreciate his concern, for he is attempting to be friendly," and Blue thought this was reasonable as well, and that perhaps a third commenter would arrive and settle the issue.

But when the third commenter, adisagestar, appeared, they did not save Blue from her conundrum, for lo, they were one of the Brotherhood Of The Purple Hawk who made it their duty to make Blue feel bad about making Hawke be sarcastic at inappropriate times,

and Blue did sigh deeply.
