There are in fact canon giant robots that turn into guns, thus Venture 1) not questioning talking gun and 2) assuming Genie is a person. Off the top of my head, Megatron himself has a pistol alt-mode at one point, and this dude turns into a sniper rifle.

 

genie sees itself as an object, but doesn't mind any set of pronouns. it is hermaphroditic, so it isn't genetically male or female.

Is there a guide to archaic english that you could advise? I'm not enthusiastic about saying "hey that's not accurate enough, please stop" in the shitposting rave. But offering information so we have the option to learn more is cool.

 

Yes it should be "art" because that's the second person conjugation. Thou meanwhile is a singular and impolite form of the second person pronoun. The plural and polite for is you.

Please read this chart. Read the chart again and then again. Write things in this grammar. Do it over and over again until it becomes second nature to you. Should you need more google Shakespearean or Elizabethian English guide/grammar/vocabulary or some such. Also take some time to read works in Englishes of this style. So read through a Shakespeare or five.

The ONLY way it can be gotten right is lots and lots of practice.

Another VERY FUCKING IMPORTANT note is that you do NOT conjugate a second verb in the infinitive. "What dost thou thinkst to do?" is like saying "What does you thinking to do" or some other such madness. The second verb there? It's in the infinitive form. It does not need to be conjugated. DO NOT conjugate it. "What dost thou think to do?" would be appropriate.

 

I'm taking entirely the wrong inspiration from this so far, and what is I thinking to do is make a character who does talk in the garbled grammar. With modern wordings. If Yoda can make it work, we can too.

 

OH DEAR GODS NO. Though really that might be fun to see. Sometimes these things can be interesting to see though it's usually how it's done. Like how the Rusalki speak in Axiom Verge. Granted I like that in particular because it's very accurate to how the English grammar of Russian native speakers works. Yoda I always imagine to be a similar case. His languages have crashed together to create his unique English accent.

A query on conjugation, since I am not terribly familiar with Elizabethan English:

Chart lists third-person present conjugation suffix as either -s or -(e)th (has/hath; does/doth; grows/groweth; etc). Are there any rules as to when to use which, or is it just a thing that happened because everyone wants the verbs to fit their meter?
