I think my favorite soulmate au is the one where when you soulmate(s) gets injured flowers bloom from the same place on your body. It's mostly because of the body horror + aesthetics of it Tbh the way to get me to like anything is to add body horror and then actually explore it. Thats why the flower disease fic was so boring- it was just "ohhhh if this keeps on i'll die but I ~~~can't forget him~~~" and then some fairly matter of fact "he coughed up more petals. The doctors all told him he was gonna die"
Friend mentioned one where Victor was ~secretly~ carrying around oxygen and taking breaths of it when Yuuri wasn't looking, and we were both like, "...do you think this author has any idea how big oxygen tanks are?"
Also if he could only take breaths when he wasn't watching it seems like that'd go wrong VERY quickly

Like, think how that would change the look and association of smokers, if there's that question, "are they in love and trying to hide it?" Adds a neat twist to the cool aloof smokers. Adds an awkward but very pragmatic level to the trope of smoking in bed after a one-night stand. Bad pick-up lines where you ask if they've got a light, then explain "after seeing you, I think I'm growing forget-me-nots." Some ultra religious sorts being very anti-smoking because it's trying to avoid the consequence of a roaming heart. Eta Stressed people in failing relationships noticing they've got flowers, and chainsmoking because they're so upset.
TO BE FAIR: homestuck does have a running gag about trolls using/being able to hear each others' typing quirks in spoken word
Unrelated fanfic gripe: got a comment on one of my older fics earlier today going, "Wow, this is amazing, how did I never find your work before this?" Hit count has not gone up on any of my other fics. Guess they weren't actually that excited about my work. :::///

It's not, like, deliberately calling attention to how weird it is to call attention to which twin is older? :P
I was goinf to whine about this but then remembered that my fandom is an outlier that should not have been counted where older twins are concerned.
yeah, 10 years older twin due to time shenanigans is an outlier for sure I bet Jame was born first though
