It's after midnight and I spent two hours in a campaign meeting earlier and yet I'm once again brooding over how mad I am at the LotR movies for turning a beautiful complicated dysfunctional mess of family into a boring uncomplicated dysfunctional mess of a family, and it's all @keltena 's fault for sending me a loss.jpg.

  3. Is $225 to $250 a good price for a used Nintendo switch?

I just got around to listening to the curb cut episode of 99% Invisible, a favorite podcast of mine. It discusses the history of disability rights activism in the United States, from the Rolling Quads of Berkeley to the signing of the ADA. It’s not exhaustive, nor does it try to be. Its angle of entry is a weird cool customized power wheelchair, and how it ended up forgotten in a creepy storage closet in the Smithsonian until a newbie curator, who kept tripping over it, got curious enough that she started asking questions.

It made me very emotional. This episode is full of people who refused to let others cast them as objects of pity. I don’t think inspiration porn was even an option at the time in which a lot of this takes place, but they probably wouldn’t have put up with that either. And that kinda makes them superheroes to me.

Check it out if you’re in search of something special. (Cw for some serious historical ableism, but it’s addressed in a meditative, matter of fact documentary style that gives it all the respect it deserves. All zero ounces.) https://99percentinvisible.org/episode/curb-cuts/

I’m looking at a brand new Switch for $299 right now, so it had better be in perfect condition or damn near close to it.

  7. It actually still has the box and everything, and it looks good in the photos. It’s cheaper than Gamestop by over 30 bucks :l whatever that tells you about Gamestop.

Then yeah, I'd call it a good deal. I'm not surprised Gamestop is selling used at about the same price as new.

Fun fact about me: when i was younger my family would occasionally go to these late sermons at church and one time they forgot snacks. Good thing i had an alternative! The alternative being these weird organic soy crayons. The box said non toxic so of course they meant i should consume them and be fine, right?

But yeah i once ate an entire box of soy crayons and i have no regrets (the need for the cronch started early i guess)

Hm, actually... Would anyone be interested in a fun fact about me thread? People could post little messages or old stories that have to do with themselves. Any sort of story is fine, although id really like nsfw stuff go under spoilers.

I already have like three of those in here that i can grab and use as a starter

    Edit: here is thread!

It's extremely surreal to be writing letters of recommendation that may actually make a difference in whether someone gets into med/dental/nursing/whatever school

had a long, exciting, fun day today with lots of social and outside that continued with internet fun times after i got home. realized i had a stonk going on, took a shower with music playing and much singing and dancing. got out, sat down, and crashed. It felt like getting hit with a brick, it was so hard and sudden. does anyone else get drops like that after high-energy days?

I do that a lot when I get home from work. I often operate on the assumption that when I get home I have to cook and eat dinner immediately, because as soon as I sit or lie down I'm not going to move for most of the next six hours.

I get emotional crashes like that after high emotion days. Like I can have a really good day full of lots of happy and friends, but then i get home and my mood just plummets. energy too

i've just started planning for them lol

ooh, reminds me of post-con depression. spend a full weekend being high energy and super happy, get home and be very still and sad

i also have started doing the immediately from work to food making thing, helps me make medium-effort food instead of low/zero effort food. I have also picked up habit of doing dishes before I eat because otherwise I forget and roommate yells at me. I don't recommend that method of enforcement but the result of me actually doing dishes is nice. I do them sorta crappily tho cause I want to eat.

Most of the food I make is hurry up and wait, so when I have the spoons, I try to do dishes while waiting for the microwave or for the water to boil or whatever.

I should work on the "go straight to making food" thing because once I sit down I'm screwed lol

I should probably start doing that too because I hate getting up to make food after sitting for a while and then we end up eating at like 10 and that's no good.

Oh I definitely prefer doing dishes during food making, but my house has no microwave and my roommate gets upset even if there's one pan left in the sink and nothing else so i pretty much have to at least wash a pan after finishing my food, unless i'm eating something cold ><
