i dunno, i've only seen it in print. but it's one of the most common navajo surnames. it means 'son of' and originates from when navajo people were first asked for surnames, since they didn't do that before. the 'son of' part ended up becoming a name on its own. similarly, another common navajo name, 'yazzie', means junior.

I googled "carina bone" (as in, one of the names for a particular bone found in birds) and got a "meet Carina Bone" page from a school of some sort. There is at least one person in this world named Carina Bone. The one I accidentally found on Google is a science teacher. I wonder if she knows she shares her name with a piece of a bird.
