Big question is, what are you looking for? The major kink-clusters (lol) tend to be: mpreg, sex pollen/heat, and sexy sexy oppression/noncon. If you like one, the other's probably won't do it for you.

True nuff. I like the sex pollen and weird junk aspects the most. Noncon can be good stuff though I much prefer it to not result in rape is love. The mpreg is the biggest no though I'd encourage people to post up their fav mpregs as well for those in here that like it.

TFW 2 Omegas + their Beta waifu have a bab and start worrying he'll be an Alpha.

The Sakach Family was... An odd one, to say the least. The neighbors had eyed them when they'd moved in, but presumed they were a more... standard arrangement. Hadn't thought much of it when A didn't leave the house for a week. Started thinking a lot of it when C didn't, either. The town... was small. Word got around. B didn't bother hiding her own status, broadcast every cool, calm, collected Beta stereotype one could imagine.

Their arrangement was, in a word... irregular - a pair of Omegas on their own, with no Alpha to handle their heats was... strange. A pair of Omegas raising a child with a Beta? Even stranger.

When A grew heavy and Scott was born, the relief that settled over the pleased parents was palpable. Mom A and Mom C had been relieved that their son was a bouncing baby (presumably) boy, with none of the... issues Mom C had been born with, no signs that he'd end up needing someone like Mom B around. Just in case. Someone who could make sure that they could say no, even if the heats rolled around and they had to go out, had to suffer through it. You could never know, after all, if a boy would turn out Alpha, if a girl would be Omega. They didn't have those second sets, the ones the doctor would check for if you needed the early warning.

Not that Scott gave one iota of a fuck about any of that, anyway.

Even if he wasn't hers by blood, he was closest to her in personality, and followed her around like a shadow. Mom B was never terribly affectionate, but she answered his questions, even if they were just a repeated 'why' with the keen desire to see if he could climb under her skin and upset her, was patient with him whenever he started outright needling, challenging, acting like.... well. Like he was going to end up with that little A on his medical records once he hit maturation. She was, honestly, the stereotypical Beta - cool, collected, in control. ( Utterly uninterested in sex, to boot, not that he'd put that one together until he was well into his teens. )

When A and C went into heat, she'd always be even more present in his care than usual, juggling homework assistance, housework, and managing her wives while he played with his toys or did his homework. Once he was old enough to be unsupervised, she'd haul them to their shared room and leave him alone to watch TV or read, coming back out to dampen a cloth with cold water when A or C were struck enough to be shaking and sweating from need.

( Plus, if she noticed how he would leave his superhero action figures bound and vulnerable at the hands of the villains, she never said anything, and certainly didn't ask which of their friends were going to rescue them like Mom A did.

B took him to learn woodworking and other crafts once he got older, and was full of useful tips when he asked how to make hidden panels, guided him towards more and more intricate projects. Taught him patience and control and how important planning really was in everything. )

Honestly, it was within the first few years of grade school that his parents started to get concerned. When he started outright challenging the adult Alphas at school, trying to get them angry, see where their weak points were... when he found a way to upset the other kids enough to have them take a swing. After all... "I didn't start it, honest. I was only talking, they didn't have to hit me!" he'd loudly affirm, before grinning, shiner standing out under his mop of dark hair and the mischief bright enough in his eyes that he already knows he's grounded and accepts it with a cackle. ( His mothers are the only ones he allows to tell him he's been wrong, or convince him of it. No one else matters. Not yet. )

Once the calls from the office began increasing in frequency, his mothers began reluctant preparations. If they couldn't manage things, they might lose him. Might have to give their little boy away to a family that wouldn't have... the same problems.. An Alpha wouldn't be... safe. Not with two Omega parents and no Alpha to snap at him and remind him that he wasn't in charge, not here. That there were limits.

There were so many things that could go wrong, that could make it too much of a risk, but... they did their best. Adapted, once he hit puberty, didn't give him a chance to pick up the scent when Heat rolled in - they were older, they knew themselves by now, could predict things... either locked themselves in the downstairs den with the cracks to the upstairs blocked with towels or had B take whomever was due when their cycles weren't lining up to a hotel.

They were determined - they'd raised him for twelve goddamn years without begging any fucking Alpha for assistance. Their own sacrifices would be worth it to keep their family together until he was old enough to go to college.

Unfortunately, the best-laid plans can still fail.

They weren't expecting C's cycle to change, to sync a few days behind A's - stress did that, sometimes, and she'd been worried, so worried, they'd managed for a year but there was always a chance something could go wrong. So, naturally, it did, hit hard and fast and vicious enough to leave her sobbing from it. Scott came home from school during A & B's 'away week' to find Mom C panting and curled up on the living room floor, whimpering and sweating... begging.

He'd stared, silently, from the doorway, as C struggled, tried to curl up and cry, told him to go, go to a friends', please baby it's okay, mommy's okay, you just need to get out now-

He'd never been one to listen to other people when they were lying.

He remembered enough of Mom B's careful work, strode forwards to grab his mother, hauling her off the couch with straining arms and to her bed.

Left to get a cool wet cloth for her forehead, sat with her, petting her hair as she gaped at him in feverish confusion, phone to his ear as he waited for Momma B to pick up. To come help.

He didn't understand why all three of his mothers started crying and hugging him once they got home. Not until B tucked a strand of his hair behind his ear while they made dinner together, murmured that they were happy that he was like her, and not an Alpha. That they'd been afraid they'd lose him, or worse.

That he was a Beta, and that that meant he was safe.

That was enough to make him scrunch his nose and squint, curling his lip back. He didn't know why they thought that would make him safer than anyone else if he'd been a stranger. It was stupid. Just because he was a Beta didn't mean he couldn't hurt someone if he wanted to. It was stupid to just assume that, wasn't it?

Mom B smiled grimly, then took him outside for a long, long talk, after that. Hammered the rules he'd been understanding all along, without knowing the full text, down until they were law. Finally talked to him about half the things he'd started thinking about, wanting to do to people -

Told him that one day he might meet someone who would let him, but that he had to be patient. Had to grow up. He didn't have to be kind. He just needed to keep his fucking nose clean and wait for the right opportunity.

After all, hobbies were good for passing time while waiting for an opportunity to come into sight.

Does anyone have theories on why werewolves are a popular addon to this particular trope because i am endlessly confused by that

Werewolves are actually the originators of the trope! It's become a little less xeno over time, but it started as a variation on werewolf AU.

If I remember right teen wolf was either the first or one of the first fandoms to pick up a/b/overse- that or supernatural, and there's lots of overlap in those fandoms, so, yeah

I thought it started with Supernatural, which is less inherently werewolf-y, but the fandom was really obsessed with dog beastiality for some reason, so...

    ... I accidentally a meta. ._.

Okay, so you know how Homo sapiens interbred with like, neanderthals and stuff?

If there were a hominid species which were hermaphroditic and had estrus cycles, which interbred over many generations with proto-humans, you could get some really interesting genetic mixtures.

That kind of long-term interbreeding is a thing that humans did with neanderthals and other hominids, and which we have genetic evidence for. It's also something we've seen in more modern eras, especially with canids like coyotes. For instance, the red wolf and eastern coyote are probably both coyote/wolf/dog hybrids.

So with that headcanon, alphas and omegas would be exhibiting hypothetical-hominid's morphology, and both true hermaphroditism and intersex conditions would probably be more likely than in our world.

Once I tried to do punnet squares to work out how a/b/o sexes would get passed down. It was confusing and ultimately fruitless

Also I tend to refer to m/f sex as primary sex and a/b/o sex as secondary sex in my own fics

Maybe an extra set of sex chromosomes might work here?

perhaps betas are your standard XX/XY chromosomes, and then instead of extra chromosomes causing the mess of problems they do now, say... XXX/XXY are omegas, and XXYY/XYY are alphas?

that would require. immense suspension of disbelief, though, so a second set might actually work better

ETA: links are to wikipedia pages of the syndromes, tread with caution if that stuff is liable to upset you

I was trying to figure out if like, what was recessive or dominant, or if both O and A were dominant and AO = beta, or A is dominant and o is recessive, and B is ????????

SO yeah that's where I got a tad stuck lmao

ye, a/b/o is just the latest incarnation of fandom's old fave mpreg, with added faux-wolf accessories. people love it, they add whatever they want to it, and the parts that don't strongly upset me are fascinating and weird and hilarious

I love worldbuilding in pretty much any situation, but I am def fine with folks just writing biological sex pollen because tbh the viability of ass-babies is not one of my particular interests

I can't get over how ABO is also bloodtype antigens, but I've got no ideas yet how to make them correlate. There's A and B and O but. Also AB. Hmm.

That one snippet where betas are good at being grounding and supportive, I appreciated that on a worldbuilding and characterization side. As much as I love a few of the kinks that intersect in a/b/o, it's much more fun to add the differences of stuff like gender and social roles and rules and all.
