ONE OF US. ONE OF US. >:) I think the episode that really got me into the series was the Bubbler which was... maybe the third or fourth in the order i was watching, cause i want to adopt everyone who has shitty parents so i'm adriens mom now. he was my son from that moment forward. Spoiler: Reflekta spoilers MARINETTE STOP TRYING TO MESS WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S ELECTRONICS OH MY GOD GO GET THAT CHECKED WITH A COUNSELOR OR SOMETHING!!! WOW!! and I love juleka's outfit. very creepy-cute and alien looking! and yes, all the Rose/Juleka :o @Elaienar UGH i would give my firstborn for an Ladrien episode :/ please let marinette notice that that boy is not cool
Spoiler It's a good thing that Marinette is sort-of calming down around Adrien, otherwise a Ladrien episode would have them both being distracted, besotted messes which would be hilarious but also probably not great for fighting the akuma. Also imagine un-transformed Adrien throwing himself in harm's way for Ladybug the way Chat Noir does.
Spoiler first of all: how dare you second: Ladybug and Adrien win the day thanks to the powers of nervous stuttering and dead-fish stares in the general direction of each other. the akuma gets so fed up with it they destroy their own cursed object thing, hoping that reverting back to normal would make them forget the horrors of their lovey-dovey incoherent babbling.
Spoiler: reflekta I could totally go for Rose/Juleka, they're always all up in each other's business already and it's cute! Rose is ALWAYS really cute, actually, from her bits in other episodes. C: Also Ladybug needs to declare Chloé a public menace. She makes so many supervillains happen... Unrelated to the new episode, has there been any meta trying to figure out things about the other two kwamis in the intro and that fancy box they're shut up in? I haven't been paying attention until just now, but man, there has to be someone out there throwing out theories, right?
Ive seen someone saying the pink one is hawkmoths kwami or at least related to him because of the butterfly motif on the box, and that the green one is someone who will show up to help defeat it, but there's people saying that it's from another series by the same creator and there's another superheroine in the world, but living in not-France. I don't know because I don't use Twitter and interactions with the creator happen there. Supposedly we are getting close to the end of the season so it's going to be explained soon? I can't wait for the shows plot to actually star to happen.
Ahhh, that is the same symbol! The more you know. Now, what about the other colors in the box that DON'T have kwamis....? [Rubs hands together, starts thinking of reasons why we don't know anything about the blue/yellow/orange parts of the box] Do you think Kwamis can actually die? Is Papillon's kwami evil, or is it just him as a person? Is he absolutely Adrian's father?
I hope the kwamis that don't show up on the opening will be introduced in the next seasons!!! I don't think they can die-die, since tikki is Actually Over Five Thousand, but maybe destroying the miraculous kills them? Like, for all purposes they're immortal as long as their jewelry is intact. Which sorta makes Totally Not Adriens Neglectful Father thing with stealing the miraculous a bit more gruesome? It's either killin them or controlling them or just not wanting superpowered teens to bother whatever evil plans he has. On the other hand, maybe the kwami just doesn't manifest while there isn't a miraculous owner, so the other artifacts are dormant and we could have other heroes in the future (please Santa let it be Alya) I read a theory that Totally Not Adriens Neglectful Father got himself Akumatized after Adriens mom disappeared, since Adrien mentions his father got weird after that. I would like if it was the case, like, maybe he has a kwami and its corrupted by whatever evil force is the real big bad or something. (Or maybe it's just me adding complexity to a kids show) Speaking of which, did we ever get an explanation for how marinette and adrien got their miraculous? An origin story somewhere? Plaggs slow dreadful realization he got stuck with a dorky sappy teenager?
I haven't seen any explanation, but I haven't been looking, either. Maybe we'll get a flashback episode? Since (I think?) ML was originally going to be aimed at teens, and it's not American-made, and anyway I haven't watched American cartoons since I was like, ten, I have no idea what level of complexity to expect from it, haha. But I've been wondering what would happen if a kwami-host got akumatised, and it would be interesting if Hawkmoth was the answer.
hawkmoth is such a goofy translation of papillon, seriously. Gosh, I'd love superAyla. Would she blog about herself on the LadyBlog? Would she Peter Parker it up?
I'd love super!Nino because he doesn't seem like the type to keep that shit secret and also boy folds like a house of cards whenever Alya presses him, which is a recipe fora seethingly jealous Alya. Bumblebee Chloe seems like a fairly popular, uh, thing in some fandom circles. By peeps who wanna see her grow up a bit. Volpina looks to be a fox-Kwami chick lady and she's apparently gonna be visiting Paris at some point. Can;t think of a transition, I really want an Ivan episode. Big gruff sweetheart.
I really don't need more of Chloé. :V Nino would be a cute superhero, though, he's my favorite classmate. He's suuuuch a sweetie! Also the blue bit of the box totally looks like a peacock to me. Peacock Nino would be kawaii as shit. We should root for this.
I don't like Chloé, but i hope she can learn to be kinder. Nino is really cute!!! I bet Adrien would be relieved if he became a hero, too - as would Marinette if Alya became one. then they would be the worst superhero team to ever exist. I would love to see how an Ivan episode went because i really liked him with Mylène in Horrificator.
Nino and Alya need to at least know about what their buds are getting up to. Or maybe not. Dunno how well Nino keeps a secret. He's a sweetheart, tho. Ivan's a cute dude. Hoping his akuma is something good that says some stuff about him. Like Juleka's. That was a p good akuma.
juleka had a very... nonthreatening evil superpower, imho, but her akumatized form was so good for character depth and so, so aesthetic
Yeh. I wonder how much control Papillion has over what kinda powersets people get. I like to think what he does is mostly just pushing people to embrace the offered powerset, but everything else is basically the akumitized person. Like, all the stuff peeps have got have been like meaningful to them and not necessarily what kinda powers would best help Paps reach his goal. An they def don't have the same goals as Paps. Have to be bribed and cajolled. Imagining that akumas narrow people's focus and emotional range. Maybe get gone once goal is accomplished, but Paps akumas can't ever really accomplish their goals because they're so weird and nebulous. Peeps just languishing in badfeels forever. I'm kinda imagining a future where Paps is gone and his Kwami, provided he has one, lands in the hands of a guy who uses it for superheroics. Be fun times. maybe. edit: okay, wow, am thinking i am maybe too tired for internets. this is real not good dumb, sorry.
new icon who this that i drew myselff oh no don't worry it's good!! it's so fun to think about how these things go. I too think akumatizing is sort of a thing that like, makes the negative emotion that created it more potent - i'm trying to think of the thing that does that that i've seen in other media but i'm completely at a loss here. but it's sort of... like, i see the kwamis as enhancers of positive things in Chat and Marinette's personalities, so the akumas do that too just... the opposite of it? the bad stuff. with access to weird, thematically relevant superpowers. I sorta like that because like the idea that the source of Papi's Akumatizing powers is a corrupted kwami, and then it's all two sides of a coin and shit. I'm really hoping that that's gonna happen in the series, Papi's kwami going to better hands - it would be a fun way to introduce another character
So it turns out I'm kind of a sucker for fics where Marinette and Chat, in some form or other, encourage Adrien and Ladybug to pursue their own crushes. It's stupid teenage romance drama and I usually hate that, but it's recursive stupid teenage romance drama and I'm an absolute sucker for recursion. Anyway, Smoke and Mirrors.
There is a flashback/origin story episode/pair of episodes planned! It'll just be late/end-of-season, possibly next season, apparently. Not sure if it's a single collective episode or one for each of them, though. Also apparently the pigeon guy from the PV finally showed up? Can someone like, give me an index of episode summaries so I can tell which I can watch without getting Anxiety All To Hell...
OH that fic is lovely!! EDIT because mobile fuckups: @Starcrossedsky i can make a list of them later if you want when I'm back from classes, and I think Wikipedia has a bit on each episode? How detailed do you need it to be?
Not SUPER detailed but like a description of the main Akuma-plot and the primary sideplot would be good.
