yeah, episode order sucks. Ok, so you've watched Bubbler, Stormy Weather, Copycat and part of Timebreaker? I'll get to work on the summaries of the other episodes.

Mr. Pigeon

Ladybug and Chat Noir have to fight an akuma that can control pigeons. As the subplot, there's a hat designing contest in Marinette's class for Mr. Agreste, where the winning design will be worn by Adrien in a photoshoot; Adrien likes Marinette's design, so Chloé sends Sabrina to steal it and pass as her own.

Lady Wifi

Alya believes Chloé is Ladybug's secret identity because she saw her taking out pieces of LB's costume from her locker, so she tries to take a picture of the inside of it with Nino's help. When she's caught and Chloé makes her get a week of suspension, she turns into Lady Wifi. There's a bit of the hiding-things-from best friend deal because of the whole identity thing and Alya taking a bunch of pictures of Adrien in the end, and their transformations almosr running out and adrien almost discovering her identity.

The Pharaoh

That's the most stUPID SUBPLOT ok so Marinette-as-Ladybug drops her history textbook with her name all over it RIGHT in front of Alya and Alya somehow doesn't think about flipping through it to try and discover her identity. ok. The akuma is The Pharaoh, whose goal is to resurrect his Queen with a resurrection spell: he takes Alya as a hostage/sacrifice and LB+CN have to rescue her. In the end Marinette manages to steal her book back from Alya (because Tikki said to convince her to bring the book) before her identity is found out.

Rogercop

During Career Day Chloé causes Sabrina's father, a cop, to be fired because her bracelet disappeared and she insisted Marinette had stolen it and he refused to arrest her on the spot. He becomes a robotic cop, but turns out Plagg had gotten stuck in the bracelet after he thought its box was actually a box of cheese.

Evillustrator

Marinette's classmate Nathaniel is a pretty good artist and he has a crush on her; after he's caught drawing a comic where his super-hero alter-ego saves Marinette from Stormy Weather and Lady Wifi during class, Chloé bullies him and he becomes akumatized. The subplot's a bit about hiding things from Sabrina, since she, Marinette and Chloé are in the same group project and Chloé left all the work to these two, and when Marinette defended Sabrina and convinced her she was being exploited, she became Marinette's 'new bff'.

Dark Cupid

It's Valentine's day! Chloé strikes again by very cruelly rejecting and humiliating Kim, who becomes Dark Cupid, an Akuma with the power to turn love into hate. Adrien writes a poem for Ladybug in class, but, not happy with it, tosses it in the garbage - Marinette fishes it out and after talking to Tikki (who tells her the poem is for her) and Alya, decides to tell Adrien her true feelings by answering the poem in a card. Marinette's creepy stalker behavior count: 57951336789413
Dark Cupid manages to turn Chat evil, so Ladybug has to fight against both of them.

Horrificator

Mylène becomes Horrificator, a three-eyed monster, after Chloé bullies her for being easily scared while they were recording a student film for a contest so Chloé could become Adrien's romantic interest. Horrificator kidnaps students to store them in pink slime cocoon things, and she "kidnaps" Adrien and Marinette as well when they transform. The subplot's about the student movie and Chloé trying to get the role while Marinette defends Mylène's right to the role/Alya tries to convince Marinette to take the role from Chloé so she can kiss Adrien in the film.

The Dark Knight

Adrien's fencing teacher becomes Dark Knight, a medieval warrior who turns people into animated suits of armor, after he loses the election for mayor of Paris to Chloé's father. The subplot is about the elections for class president, where no one wants to run against Chloé because she's threatening to spill their secrets in case they do. Marinette is fed up with this and becomes a candidate, so Chloé sends Sabrina to steal her diary so they can know if Marinette has any dirt they could threaten her with. But Marinette's diary is kept inside a box that will automatically close if they try to take the diary out without a secret thing being activated, and Sabrina gets her hand stuck there.

Le Mime

Mylène's father is a mime, and on the day of his first big show he is late because a jealous understudy gives him the wrong meeting point to take the tour bus; the subplot is about Alya, who got a cool video of Ladybug she wants to show Marinette. She accidentally deletes the video from Alya's phone, so she steals it to try and recreate the video and it's a hide-from-bestfriend thing - it doesn't work and she's forced to be honest with Alya, who doesn't mind she deleted the video because she had already uploaded it to her blog. Anyway, as an apology, Marinette ~mysteriously~ arranges an exclusive interview with Ladybug for the Ladyblog.

Kung Food

Marinette's uncle from China is a famous chef who will be staying in Paris for a competition. She doesn't speak Mandarin and he doesn't speak French, so she ends up needing Adrien's help with translating. Chloé is one of the judges at the competition, and she's really racist when speaking about Marinette's uncle, which infuriates Marinette and the two end up fighting - Adrien taking Marinette's side. So Chloé sabotages her uncle's soup, which causes him to lose the competition, and he's Akumatized.

The Gamer (#LetAdrienEat2k16)

ugh this is one of my favorite episodes!!! There's an inter-schools fighting game tournament thing, and it looks like the players from Marinette's school are going to be Adrien and Max, who had been training for a year for the competition. Marinette sees this as an opportunity to spend time with Adrien, so she joins and easily beats Max's score. Upset by this, he becomes The Gamer, who summons and controls the giant robots from the game. Adrien goes to train in Marinette's house, and her room is full of Adrien posters and pictures so she has to hide these in a scene.

Animan

Spoiler

The Akuma is a man who has the power to shapeshift into any animal; the subplot is that Nino, Adrien's friend, has a crush on Marinette. Adrien helps him work out the courage to ask her out to the zoo as a date, but because he's nervous around her it ends up becoming a double date with her and Alya. Long story short, alya and adrien "ditch" their friends - adrien to let nino spend time with marinette and alya to let marinette spend time with adrien - but they sort of have these spy earpieces so their friend can help them with conversation? in the end nino messes up and says his crush is on alya, then they end up locked in a cell in the zoo and find out they actually like each other so it's a bit weird. there's a flashback about marinette being not very smart around adrien which gives me second-hand embarrassment anxiety but idk if you have issues with that - it's very short anyway and the episode is pretty cute, especially towards the end, but there's a lot of awkwardness in their date with all the speaking to people not present and stuff like that.

Antibug

This episode has two Akumas - Sabrina becomes The Invisible One after Chloé and her have a fight, and later Chloé herself becomes one after Ladybug is rude to her, who had good intentions in helping defeat The Invisible One but also got in the way and put herself and Ladybug/Chat Noir in danger. Chloé becomes Antibug, who has the same powers as Ladybug but is evil. Theres not much of a subplot except how Ladybug and Chat are an awesome team and better because of it.

The Puppeteer

The Akuma is the child that Marinette babysits, Minon. She can control people with the dolls Marinette made of them, such as Rogercop, Lady Wifi, Evillustrator, and even Ladybug and Chat Noir. There's not much of a subplot in this one either.

Reflekta

Akumas Chloé are responsible for creating: 4,8x10²³. Juleka, the emo/goth classmate, is made into the akuma Reflekta after Chloé locks her in the bathroom and makes her miss the class picture. She can transform people into images of herself, and manages to transform even Chat Noir (who loses his powers). The subplot here is sort of about Marinette's kleptomania, because her solution to Juleka not being in the picture is to steal the photographer's camera and deleting the picture, which sort of puts her in trouble because Chloé catches her so she steals her phone too. She gives back everything in the end and manages to convince the photographer to retake the pictures without deleting the original.

 

ok so now after doing that I really want to write fic where Alya knows Marinette is Ladybug but doesn't say anything because she gets why Ladybug doesn't want anyone knowing who she is, so she continues things as usual to humor/respect Marinette, and that she figured out after that that Adrien is Chat. And Tikki also knows Adrien is Chat Noir and is trying to get the two together, and then one day Tikki and Alya meet alone and work on a Master Matchmaking Plan.
Also some time during it poor Adrien is allowed to stuff his face full of tasty, tasty carbohydrates.

Rewatched The Gamer, remembered how much I love Max. He's such a good little dude. He tried so hard to be a gracious loser even though winning is so important to him. Also love his and Kim's relationship. They're both competitive dudes and respect that about each other even if their interests aren't aligned. I like that. It's not exactly a rivals situation like Kim and Alix cause they don't compete along the same axis, it's like a mutually supportive deal. "I don't like the thing but I like that you like the thing and I have full faith in your talent." Cute.

I love The Gamer, I love Max and I love how many friendships between different people there are? Like, a lot of stuff for this age group/about school has everyone being friends only whith members of their own subculture (nerds with nerds, emos with emos etc) so it's really cute to see them being good friends instead of... dude versions of chloé and sabrina, which is where it usually ends up.

did you guys see the thing with the korean broadcast airing the end-of-season, like, next week?

Well, excuse me, princess! - By the eleventh time Evillustrator went to abduct Chloé Bourgeois, her family's butler knew the boy's favorite tea flavor and which type of coffee biscuits (Amarettis) he preferred. The mayor did not hesitate to pat the boy on the shoulder, and to discuss his life choices.

I laughed, I cried, I think I ship Chloé/Nathanaël now (help meeeeeee). The author has two other fics in progress and I'm afraid to click on them because I have to sleep sometime.

ETA: @witchknights Yes I saw that, I'm ... really confused about why they're airing the episodes meant to be the season finale so early? I kinda want to wait for them to come out in French because so far I like the French audio best, but I'm afraid I'll wind up seeing spoilers on Tumblr. I only follow like one person who reblogs ML content but of course now there are posts from people I don't follow on my dash, so....

 

I'm torn between what to do, myself. I want to follow the best narrative order, so watching the Korean broadcast is shitty, but on the other hand knowing the spoilers are there and I do t know them/ not reading them gives me major anxiety, I'm the sort that reads the ending of the book first.

 

Tom is fucking huge. AU where Mari is also fuckin huge. Ladybug as a 6 ft tall amazon next to Chat Noir the svelte pretty boy. AU where Adrien knows two girls that look like they could break him in half over their knees, WHAT A FUNNY COINCIDENCE.

I don't know if it's because of the dragon or what, but something in the animation seemed off??

 

I think it might have been a difficult episode to animate in some scenes, which might have blown the budget for others. The animation seemed a bit off in some places to me too.

I didn't notice anything other than flying animation looking weird, but that's pretty standard I think? I mean, flying must be really hard to animate. Otherwise *deep breath*

Oh no oh no oh nooooooooooooo Adrien asking Marinette for her autograph was too cute he was so awkward and shy and I think he thinks she's cool she couldn't even look at his face half the time and she FELL OVER and he smiled the tiniest bit when she caught herself and flipped back upright oh nooooooooooo they're KILLING ME someone please help these dorks

...I noticed the tiny smile when I was going through the episode the second time to harvest screencaps for fanart....

 

Just read a post by someone who imagines that Adrien would grow up to be his father's mirror image and marry Chloe, and it's like, what do you just not like the guy?

Something while they were fighting and running after GV seemed off - like how they rotated the camera instead of doing cuts and things like that? And the amount of times they used the character-standing-in-stripped-background thing, and the part on top of the tower seemed off. but i imagine they're easier/quicker/cheaper to do than more elaborate stuff and that dragon must have siphoned cash like whoa

I think Adrien is a >lot< better at not making a complete fool of himself, but he's still so cute. Boyfriend thinks it's not possible for him to be shy or unsure since he's Chat and Chat is ridiculous and there was the Dark Cupid episode and everything, but idk. I think he thinks Marinette could be cool because of meeting her as Chat and, like, in his mind God forbid he has actual romantic interest in anyone other than Ladybug, but the kid's so desperate for genuine friendship instead of Chloé or fangirls that he's trying really hard to make her notice she doesn't have to act weird around him because he's just a dork who thinks she's cool, even if he's not consciously doing it, he's still going all PLEASE SEE ME AS A PERSON, I THINK YOU'RE COOLER THAN ME, PAY ATTENTION TO ME PLEASE YOU'RE SO NICE TO EVERYONE CAN YOU BE NICE TO ME TOO I NEED NICE. getting her autograph was cute in that way? Like, I'm not good at englishing right now because i'm super tired, but he's always so straightforward in his appreciation for her that it just strikes me as this? anyway that's like, top five fic trope material right there. he GENUINELY admires her!!! he envies her family!!! he's so earnest in the stuff he does around her and, fuck, these kids are just too good, too pure.

@tinyhydra damn, someone either for some reason doesn't like happiness or is way too cynical for anyone who's still wasting time watching cartoons. i bet they don't even like sugar on their coffee, oooh.

 

I think Adrien's more shy than Marinette is, actually! Marinette's awkward and anxious, but she has no trouble speaking up for herself and others, and doesn't really shy away from much that isn't, well, Adrien. Or rather, the prospect of making a fool of herself in front of him. Otherwise she's very outspoken and confident. Adrien tends to shy away from conflict and doesn't really speak up for himself much. And when he does talk, he usually sticks to bland pleasantries. He's nice, but in a really inoffensive, quiet kinda way. Not super daring, not doing much that could offend or upset anyone. Or something. i dunno, I'm real bad at forming coherent arguments.
