a messy no-sleep thought-up extended metaphor for beliefs or something

    eddie ...

you are put in a dark room and told by a man in a lab coat on a tv screen that there are two corners you can stand in, each with a lit bulb hanging from it.

one corner has a banner that reads “THIS IS A GOOD”, the other “THIS IS GOOD”. both of these corners have a lever that dispenses out a sticker (it’s the same sticker, but you don’t know, obviously) after you have decided to pull it. once you have chosen a corner and pulled the lever, you are blinded by the light bulb swinging over you.

if you decide to sit in the dark center not moving, you are berated by the man in the lab coat on the screen, and you don’t get any stickers.

however, there is another option most don’t know about.

if you wander off in the dark, feeling around, you will eventually start finding switches for more lights and more corners. DOORWAYS illuminate themselves, HALLWAYS, more rooms, more lights, more levers, etc.

eventually you can escape the building altogether, look back, and laugh, although you may be stickerless. you are free to return to the building any time you’d like, but you will no longer see it in the dark. it will all be Enlightened to you.

as time goes on, you might see friends of yours in that room, after you’ve left it. you might try to help them escape. many will refuse. some will die useless in the middle of the first dark room, will defiantly stand and declare that they choose not to make a decision very loudly with their eyes closed as they grow older.

you may try your damnedest to get everyone out of the building altogether, rushing right along to make everyone adhere to you and your Knowledge. this will land you in a separate building with a separate dark room with separate levers and separate stickers.

though it make take some time to escape the second building, you now have access to two. two places to assist others in illuminating themselves with knowledge.

a movement begins as more people collect themselves and others from the dark of unknown and the blindness of the too-bright. not everyone will change. not everyone can be helped or removed from what they know, where they reside in that room, that building, that collection of structures.

what matters is that their decisions are acknowledged, accepted, and respected.

(do you ever just get nosleep-realdeep on yourself)
