fast forward to fucked-up, predatory, spadesy strickjim happening and becoming a regular, ongoing thing in present day (and before the binding thing)

fast forward to barb finding out about it

fast forward to barb going into a blinding rage and slamming strickler upside the head with a shovel

in the process he de-glamours, and w h o o p s now she's got an unconscious rock monster man in a coma on her hands who may or may not wake up, who she can't quite bring herself to murder in cold blood now, who raises ALL kinds of questions just by existing, who fucked her son, who she let into their life again--

--and the only thing jim knows is that the teacher and nemesis he's fucking is suddenly gone, and no one has any idea what happened, and he's freaked out as hell and looking for answers.
