Does anyone else watch hot looks salon? I am loosing my mind over this series, it's fun and super Women Being Supportive Of Each Other heavy. I love it a lot and the shorts (which is the main parts I watch because I never think to check the overall channels on YouTube anymore) are rich with side stories, backgrounds, and wholesome lore for the world. I love it. This series started as a joke asmr thing and it's so rich and funny now and I love it. Not to give spoilers but she recently started the 90s arc and I am so pumped about it; there's new development with the characters and I'm so excited!!! Here's a fun taste of the channel:
YouTube recommended me this video this morning after I was done watching another creators video. It's really interesting how the two creators had such different approaches to the subject of certain things in books, but I think I agree with funkfrogbait more than I did with possessedbyhorror. It's hard to put my thoughts into words, but I don't think "spicy" books having cutesy/cartooney illustrations on their covers is something bad. Possesedbyhorror said it's about protecting the children, but I think parents should do research before buying their kids a book. I say this as someone who watched a movie that traumatized me when I was very young (watership down), because my mother saw cartoon rabbits and thought it was safe. I also know that authors don't get to choose the art used on the covers of their books, I think it's the publishing company giving a synopsis to an artist and letting them create the cover art? Spoiler: Somewhat NSFW video
There's a saying in English, "don't judge a book by its cover", but maybe people don't hear it enough these days, or maybe people don't take it literally enough, or maybe the word "people" is obscuring certain demographic differences that I ought to be more cognizant of.
