heeeee, no, though people who see my name before they hear me say it think it's like "gnocchi" sometimes. no, my legal name is katherine so I get catherine/kathryn/cathrin etc
Is...is that like, Zsa Zsa Gabor, but...Lynn? ?????????????????? Also oh god, that poor preschooler with the unpronounceable mash of Ks and Hs. Her poor sister, too. (I'm guessing it's a sister, anyway.)
My last name comes from Lithuania and is basically impossible to pronounce if I don't say how to before hand. People are like "Nick...uh..." and then stare at me until I talk them. And when they're leaving a message on the phone it's quite funny to hear them struggle. Some of the attempts have been hilarious.
Just found a trio of kids who's names in order are Chevy, Blazer, and Axel. Each name individually is unassuming, but together we revel at least one parent with a truck obsession.
As seen on Toddlers and Tiaras (the place to find weird baby names since forever :P) Alycesaundra. (or something like it) WHY?
Is that pronounced like Alexandra? Because if it is then that's the worst case of unnecessary name lengthening I've ever seen
No it seems more like a combo of 'alice' and 'saundra' sort of slurred together in the middle. It sure is ridiculous though :P Then again, most of the Toddlers and Tiaras names are XD
I think I've heard Alessandra, as a variant of Alexandra, but Alycesaundra is so many levels of bad either way.
There's more! (There's a marathon on, and I love rubbish television occasionally :P) Mehayle. Nicknamed 'Princess M' (as much as I mock their names I feel for these girls...)
Not in the episodes I was watching. There were loads with 'somethinglee' anmes though. 'Braylee', 'Hallee' etc. Almost none of the kids on those shows have normal names. Sometimes not even the moms have normal names :P
I have a character named Kimelyn, thanks to a Name Smasher generator that creates the awful 'take parts of names and smoosh them together for UNIQUE!!1 names'. She is forever bitter about this. I haven't named her sibs but according to her they're WORSE.
...I need a link to this generator, because that is brilliant for Embarrassing Character Names. That reminds me, I have a sibling set in one of my 'verses--three sisters, named (in order) Sunshine, Moonbeam, and Starlight. They all hate their names to at least some extent (okay, Sunshine doesn't totally mind hers, though she does use a nickname more often than not; Moonbeam and Starlight, on the other hand...), and the three of them go by Sunny, Luna, and Stella, respectively. There's also a trans guy in this 'verse whose chosen name is Ethan, which is, IMO, a very nice name...and I'm very strongly considering making his deadname Ethel or something equally old-lady-sounding-but-similar-to-his-actual-name, so he can be like "eh, it's kind of a good thing I wound up not being a girl after all, gave me a good excuse to come up with a better name." On a slightly different character naming note, I am positive someone is going to think Mandy's full name (Amanda Joy Macbeth) is a shoutout to AJ Michalka, since I am SU trash--I learned recently that "AJ" (in her case) stands for, you guessed it, "Amanda Joy." Though since Mandy pretty exclusively goes by Mandy...
