First name of Gamze which is a perfectly fine turkish first name but sure had my inner homestuck do a double take
Just got a reply on a Facebook comment from a woman with the deeply unfortunate surname of Fagg. She seems perfectly nice, too...poor lady!
This one wasn't the parents' fault, but I recall hearing (back in Livejournal's heyday) of an unfortunate lesbian couple whose first names were both Nicole, and their best friend was also named Nicole. That's gotta get confusing.
my sister has friends who are a lesbian couple and they're BOTH called Laura. leading to them just being collective 'the lauras' as a unit
I think the Nicoles mentioned above ended up going by Nicole, Nic, and Cole, just to make things slightly less confusing. I guess that's a hazard of dating people with names of the same gender as one's own - must also happen to het couples with neutral names sometimes.
There was a story a while back about a het couple who had the same first and last names—for the record, the surname was relatively common, and iirc they did make absolutely sure they weren’t secretly related before they wed. So yeah, it does happen, and it’s always wild when it does.
i actually know a het couple in rl who are both alexes, but they do at least have different surnames so they often refer to each other by those. it's cute.
I work with a girl named ShyAnne (it might be Shyanne) and a boy named Dillon Why do people like that exist Stop changing the spellings, you assholes. Edit: ShyAnn Even worse lol
Its weird enough that white people call their kids Cheyenne...like what But there are also people who call their kid India and shit, so... Spend more time on baby name websites, I PROMISE you'll find something pretty and unique
Chelsey I cannot. (Is there a "names i would name an actual child" thread somewhere, i want feedback on my distant-future baby names lol) (Chelsey is not one, just to be crystal clear XD)
What's so weird about Chelsey? It's usually spelled -sea, but as far as Mormon-style inventive misspellings go, at least it isn't Chellcee or something.
I'm used to Mormons just pulling out the more obscure biblical names, didnt know they got into spellings
