Orochi: basically Aperture Science, but successful despite everything???

 

They do actually succeed at things and make useful products quite a bit! It's just in game we mostly see when they fuck up usually because we're trying to clean up said fuck .

Someone I know who's a big Orochi fan explained it as Orochi are mostly competent, but the dead Orochi are a sign of Shit Just Got Real, and that's what we mostly see

 

I'd like to believe that, but with the incredible disasters we keep coming in to see the aftermath to I think they're still a little more Aperture Science than they are Black Mesa.

I think... it's less wacky hijinks that they're doing and more a disturbing amount of hubis that led to most of the disasters in the first place.

 

So I went through my old TSW tag and queued up a bunch of stuff and found the best TSW review ever

 

Seems pretty accurate on many points, to me.

Then again I was reading this and I got to "I had cramps after doing 111111 22222222 333333 5 222222 1 3333333 5 222222 1" and was like #same with every part of my soul.

Binding my builder to a mouse button did a lot to help that tho

 

Haha, man. This reads like someone complaining about DAI by saying, like... you have to talk to a bunch of people and run around the wilderness a lot, and there are monsters! Why are there monsters?! Yes, good job, you described the core gameplay, perhaps if those things strike you as flaws this game is Not For You.

 

I would like to make a formal complaint about what a GIANT PAIN IN THE ASS the Issue 14 Dr. Klein fight is. I am aggrieved.

I did not succeed and had to log out because all the camera swinging around I was having to do combined with flashy purple lights made me dizzy. :(

 

Oh man, you should see the Klein nightmare boss. EVERY ATTACK IS PURPLE ESPECIALLY THE ONES YOU HAVE TO LOOK OUT FOR. combined with manifestations and other player aoes and it takes some practice to even know what to look for T_T (the trick is to look at his body and which way he turns to know where to dodge)

I love his line about "have i killed you? Have you killed me?" Klein's dialogue in general is ridiculous NO VORDS

 

"WHY WON'T YOU TALK" well maybe that's because I CAN'T you gigantic festering ballsack!

At least now I know what the surly muttering I've seen about him is for.

 

My favorite Klein line is "We should have filled Agartha with concrete when we had the chance!" because it raises so many questions. What chance? How much concrete would that even take? Does that much concrete even exist? Who is his supplier? Can I have their number?

 

Once we find out, we can brick up Orochi Tower! :'D TAKE THAT SAMAEL.

Where the hell did the Orochi dig Klein up, anyway.

Ok this is actually pretty neat

 

MAN I LOVE KAIDAN

It's hard as balls and I had the hardest time figuring out the layout (for some reason it was even worse for me than City of the Sun God??), but it's just so neat. I love the hypersaturated daytime colors - it's like a fever dream. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite places to take screencaps.

 

SO if you've been interested in the game but have been holding off, you may as well hold off a while longer - they're relaunching with an entirely new F2P version soon.

To say I have mixed feelings is an understatement.

 

Just heard about this relaunch thing. I guess I'm excited?? I love the Secret World, but a lot of small things about the combat, progression, etc. mean I haven't really visited it in quite a while. Hopefully they'll do something for the people who bought the game, though. I don't like the thought of having spent all this money on the game and then having to slog through a whole F2P thing from the whole start.

Fingers crossed for a (completely unrealistic to expect or even hope for) visual update. That'd be rad.

 

It's the same engine, so don't get too excited, but they have talked about some visual improvements.
