Idk how unpopular this opinion is but... I don't like Crowley that much :( I like his actor a lot but it felt like they just kept him on too long. Like he was a great villain and all but idg why he had staying power and the other cool villains didn't. And she died because no one knew or thought she was "worth" trying to save and just. It left such a shitty taste in my mouth. SHE MADE A DEAL WITH A DEMON TO KILL HER RAPIST AND SHE ENDED UP BEING DRAGGED TO HELL IN THE MOST HORRIBLE WAY POSSIBLE I wish they'd brought her back as a demon to do awesome shit or SOMETHING but then again I wouldn't have trusted the writers with that. I did it in a private rp instead >.> edit: to put it another way...she was abused. Her mother was complicit and neglectful. She grew up thinking no one would help her so she had to do everything herself. Of COURSE she wouldn't ask for help. My entire opinion on supernatural is pretending that its a monster of the week show with a codependent incestuous relationship as the focus. What do you mean later plot happened.

I will say I love Cas...a lot, because I'm a sucker for his character type, but the way the show brushed off what happened to Jimmy and a lot of the stuff they did with his character arc was...just...bad. I feel redundant saying that because there's SO MUCH BAD but...yeah... I heard they brought Claire back older at some pt but idk what happened with that and I'm afraid to know. Fuck. There were some great soulless Sam moments but...yeah.

Reading through this turead god damn I missed a lot by only ever watxhing it occassionallu years ago. Holy shit what happened. Though I might look at the abime or the books since I do genuinely like the idea of the show and the brothers. Namely vagurlu incestuous codependent relationahip during cross country monster hunting roadtrip and not...whatever the fuck it became.
God, I don't know if I could summarize it, but. If i had to point to one big overarching problem with the show, it's that the writers clearly felt they had to raise the stakes with the conflict every season, and...once you've had 3 near-apocalypses it just loses it's impact after a while. On top of constantly killing off any side character they possibly could to keep the manpain wheels greased...
So i actually googled the very latest season and shocker of all shockers their mom is alive again. I hate this stupid fucking train wreck of a show, it ran out of tracks like 7 seasons ago and is now plowing through everything and anything mercilessly with no regards or cares for what its hitting.
You can also just. TELL who wrote certain episodes. Because there are some here and there after S5 that are genuinely pretty good. Like the ones with Charlie. And then there's the ones that are just a huge racist sexist mess. Which is most of them that include anyone who isn't a white dude. Does anyone...remember the witch familiar episode. I don't blame you if you tried to scrub it from your memory. Portia's actress did an excellent job but I feel ashamed she had to be subjected to that episode. WHY...

Yyyyyep. I think it started going off the trails, imo, when they introduced the whole angel plotline - because carefully handled, yeah, that can be integrated into the rest of the series and made to work and maybe even given a resolution of some sort that doesn't leave it sprawling through the rest of the series forever. But, uh, I'm not sure they've got writers who could've carefully handled it. (Or at least, they don't have an entire team of writers who can carefully handle it, because different people write each episode and all it really takes is one person fumbling the ball on that.) What they have are writers who're good at monster-of-the-week gorefests with some lorebuilding and investigation elements. And that's a very different skillset from putting together a long-running plotline that requires the protagonists to be saving the world. It's basically always been pretty awful and willing to kill off characters for cheap shock value, especially if it's a female character or someone the boys might have any emotional attachment to.

Its very fun though. It has equal amounts of stupid and great, so you can laugh at the dumb bits and enjoy the great ones. The problem is it gets old, like when you binge a show and every episode is either inane filler or the same general plot over and over so you get like 4 seasons in and you get kinda tired of it.
If you either watch only the good bits, or you take the really hilariously bad bits and watch it with friends, the show is fine. it's when you watch all of it that you can't deal.
