Thylacines are my favourite, but while we're hearing potentially good news, whatever thylacines are still alive (if any) are hiding pretty well right now (not that I blame them).

But they have teeny tiny little cousins called numbats! Which are also adorable.

    How could you not?

    and now, the Quokka Selfie:

Quokkas are incredibly friendly marsupials that will pose for pictures with you.

Australia may be full of things that are trying to kill us, but some of them are trying to kill us with cuteness.

I need to go there. If they do find living thylacines I will absolutely go there.

    Lerxst salty parabola

holy shit, you have made a Great Discovery here!

See, a friend of mine actually did research on this (for values of "research" equal to "several hours of drunkenly googling 'corgi [other dog] mix' and laughing hysterically"). When you breed a corgi with another dog you get the other dog with no legs. It is known.

EXCEPT APPARENTLY WHEN YOU BREED A CORG WITH A POODLE YOU GET AN EXTRA-FLOOFY CARAMEL CORG???

Decided to look at corgi whippets. Not much evidence of then happening but there was this guy

Looks like whippety leggyness tries to provide a balance to corgi stubbyness
