Yeah, for the record, that URL format just links to a page containing the image, you need to actually grab the image's URL if you want to embed it.

  12. ... what's the difference between those two things?

(url).tumblr.com/image/(stuff) just links to a thing containing the image and a link to go back to the blog (or the post? I'm actually not sure). The image itself has a different URL and that's the one you need to use.

The URL of an image is the address of the image file. A URL of a page with an image is the address of the page's file, with an address for the image file somewhere inside. I guess it's sort of like trying to shove a box containing one or more cassette tapes and probably some other random junk into a VCR. The movie is in there somewhere, but that's not enough to make it play.

  15. So how do you get the image URL from the page? :l

Whoop! I was ninja'd through time up there I see!

On a pc, right click and select 'copy image address' or location or whatever specific wording your browser uses. It should give you a link that ends with an image format, such as .jpg, .png, or .gif. On mobile I don't have the faintest clue.

If you right-click an image, you should get an option to "Copy image address" (usually right below 'copy image'.)

edit: On mobile, I've actually found that copying the image/exporting the link via iphone's shit will give me the image link when I go to plug it into the image insertion box on kintsugi.

you can also just straight right-click and choose 'copy image' on the actual image itself and then control+v it onto a blank post without messing with image files
