i wonder if 'urge to teach/raise/care for vulnerable people' in trolls is like, some troll flipped-over version of This Is How Alphas Work. almost the way 'urge to damage vulnerable people' in humans is Well That's Just Alpha Behavior. bel is fitting them into the hierarchy! he is feeling leaderly highblood dominance feels. he is just ensuring their subordination to him, and stabilizing their detrimental conditions so he can make proper use of them later. it is perfectly natural. *insert majestic and respected animal species* works like that too.

trolls have a lot of awkward roundabout 'well you know it's just science you can't help it' excuses for not being violent dicks to each other 24/7.
