Boat Trolls planning thread! (full of spoilers, non-players enter at your own risk)

she signs on with teams to maintain and repair prosthetics and other wetware tech. kind of a mercenary mechanic, i guess? the pay is good, the contacts are good, and she probably likes the challenge and frantic excitement of fixing damage under active fire situations.

 

You know, I bet erskin would be pretty good at relays and capture-the-flag stuff, though bel's already got a stealth specialist. Erskin's probably way less good at sneaking into and out of places, but he's set up to be great at evasion over long distances, and really practiced at being hunted.

 

Hm! Maybe they go in for a really primitive era, too, so the challenge of the season is the difficulty in communications and supply. Psionics and wildcraft are going to be valuable-- maybe it's a big fuck-you from one influential kid towards their technophile nemesis?

 

Oh also i was thinking when luka's well enough to play again, it might be fun to have lainey and argus stay over on the island for the campaign or to prepare for it? Theyd have to stay with erskin because, galley, but anyway what if galley gets wind of arguus's awkward 16 year old puppycrush on bel. That could be funny.

ETA: what if arguus gets an awkward puppy hatecrush on galley? Like that superior hatey way teens get about 'losers', like if you just hate them enough what went wrong for them couldn't possibly happen to you. You're better than that. You won't fuck up like they did... But galley is still hot, and scary-powerful, and a dangerous fugitive, and pointedly snuggling up on bel, so, hhngh.

Hm, Erskin's flintlock pistols would be out, then? Or otherwise Bel might try flintlock rifles. But I think trolls progressed very differently than humans, and internal combustion and gunpowder aren't common, or ancient.

Anyway Erskin would be mostly working with a couple hunting knives, then, since swords and dense woodland don't mix well. In fights he'd likely just pounce bare-handed, because if he's close enough for stabbing he's close enough to grab a limb and snap it. Opportunistically breaking pursuer's legs in double-backs and ambushes while on the run is a favored tactic. Its nonlethal but a big deterrant. Bel's pretty darn good to get out of the cloris-fight without anything busted, really.

 

Yeah i think so too! Hnmmm what if the challenge is, no sylladex, no strife deck, no automotive devices. They can only bring past the boundry what they can carry. So the first part is figuring out what to take and how to haul it! Measuring everyone up for loads and designing carrying structures .That sounds fun. Also like-- if this campagn was announced bel would be like 'oh shit i gotta talk erskin into this!' And erskin would be more amenable to persuasion than a campaign that would throw him into super unfamiliar situations.

 

Just so this isn't TOO stacked in erskin's favor, let's put a rainbowdrinker on the opposite team.

 

hm, well, that's going to be a problem since we don't have accurate record of the earliest human battles, and by the time we do it's egypt. we're such a young species, really... do you have any ideas? maybe guerilla warfare against occupying forces? or a stranded situation? like, imperial forces were routed by rebels as they scouted a new planet to colonize, in the battle all the ships crashed, now you're stuck in aaaalllliiiieeeennn woods wooo and the other side is still out to get you. perhaps there are just enough 'remnants' of the 'crashed ships' to put one working ship together, and to win you gotta break atmosphere with your team.

ok sure! i was fretting about if i made the starting thread too much or not enough or whatever. 'yep, there's erskin, still being a mess'. but at least it gives jethro a lot to do.
